A Shameless Plug for a Top-Notch Portland Trail Blazers Blog Site

Red ShannonMar 22, 2009

After a six-year playoff drought, it's looking more and more like rain in Portland.

Postseason rain.

And not just a sprinkle. The jockeying for home-court advantage in the Northwest Division race is akin to the buildup of thunderheads preceding a real gully-washer.

The thirsty Trail Blazers fanbase can't seem to get enough information. Stats; schedules; home and away records within the division, within the conference; injury updates; analyses; boxscores. Interest is at a level not seen in years.

Just in case you've been off the planet for a good while and are just now returning, there is a classy little Trail Blazers blog site you may need to discover. It's called "Blazers Edge."

Blazers Edge is one of many sports-related sites under the protective wings of the mother hen, SBNation. It's obvious, however, that The Edge has been getting more than its share of worms. Its growth and popularity have been off the charts the last two years.

The driving force behind Blazers Edge has been the engaging, humorous, and insightful writing of Dave Deckard. His analyses and thought-provoking commentary have drawn a faithful and loyal following.

Sidekick Ben Golliver (the credentialed one) scours the media for any late-breaking, pertinent news and covers the locker room interviews at all home games.

A unique feature of Blazers Edge is the Gameday Open Thread, where any BE community member can interact during live game-time commentary.

Almost as endearing as Dave and Ben are several longtime characters in the community of regular posters. There's the matron saint, Jorga; the would-be world ruler, jscot; the comedic rascal, tominhawaii; and the ravishing Sophia, to name a few.

Blazers Edge is a family-friendly site with profanity being a no-no. The BE community is usually first to police itself in this regard.

The site has also sponsored a charity event the last two years, providing Blazers tickets to many kids who would not otherwise be able to go to a game.

If you're a Trail Blazers fan and you feel like you've been wandering through a dry and thirsty land, there's a nice little oasis waiting for you just a click away.
