NCAA Tournament Predictions: Second Round, Day Two (Mar. 22)

(6) Arizona State vs. (3) Syracuse

This is really an even matchup. Normally, Syracuse would be the fairly better team, but I can't stop feeling that all these games in such a short time will tire them out. And Arizona State has been overlooked all year.

However, I think the Orange have the talent to pull this one out.

Prediction: Arizona State 74, Syracuse 76

(12) Wisconsin vs. (4) Xavier

Wisconsin did pull off an unexpected upset over Florida State in the first round, but Xavier has always been better than the press says they are. Wisconsin might hang with them for the first half, but I'm pretty sure Xavier will handle this game well.

(11) Dayton vs. (3) Kansas

Kansas may have more trouble with the Flyers than expected. Dayton looked like a seasoned, talented basketball team previously against West Virginia, and Kansas has been nowhere near as good as they were last year all season.

Probably a Jayhawks victory, but closer than first imagined.

Prediction: Dayton 78, Kansas 82

(13) Cleveland State vs. (12) Arizona

In one of the most unpredicted second round matchups, the 12 and 13 seeds square off to see who goes to the sweet 16. But does anyone really care?!

(8) Oklahoma State vs. (1) Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh had a tougher time than expected in beating ETSU, but they did end up with a double-digit victory. Oklahoma State also barely snuck past Tennessee, a team I thought was overrated for most of the season.

The Cowboys don't stand a chance. Pittsburgh rolls.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 66, Pittsburgh 81

This could really be quite a good game. Although they are a six and three seed, both teams seem very, very evenly matched. The winner would advance to play Memphis, I think they might have a chance!

Michigan State could really be a title contender this season. Although USC did have a decisive victory over higher-ranked Boston College last round, they really don't have much hope heading into this game.

(9) Siena vs. (1) Louisville

Just another blowout. Or not. Louisville is possibly the No. 1 team in the nation, but Siena looked very good in their tightly-battled OT win over (8) Ohio State. However, this game seems to be destined to be a Cardinals' victory.

Prediction: Siena 73, Louisville 80

Spread Pick: Siena (+11.5) That's just too high a spread for a second-round game, no matter WHO's playing!
