Horn FanMar 21, 2009

Kevin Harvick won the Scott's Turf Builder 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway for his first win in his own equipment.

Harvick took the checkered flag, claiming his fifth win at the track by beating Carl Edwards by .798 seconds and led 44 laps.

It's been referred to by Kevin Harvick Inc. on any release as the season of 33. Happy's 33, he's looking for his 33rd win and drives the No. 33 car.

Well it's been dubbed by yours truly as Mission 33 Completed.

Harvick lost his alternator earlier in the race, his crew chief kept Ernie Cope kept him calm and they turned everything off in the car.

He ran most of the race inside the top 10, his crew didn't miss a beat, made no mistakes, more importantly the 33 stayed out of trouble and thus Harvick put himself in position to steal a win.

Late in the race, while under a caution flag. Kyle Busch who led 157 laps today, pitted had an errant tire get away from his crew and had to restart at the tail end of the longest line in 16th.

On the same pit stop, Harvick's crew made the right move, they filled the No. 33 Armour Canned Meats Chevy with only enough fuel to finish the race and more importantly made the car lighter for the final restart.

Harvick took the green on the restart with 31 laps to go, pulled away from Carl Edwards in second, made no mistakes and hit the lapped traffic just right.

Harvick would lead the final 31 laps, claim his biggest victory in his Nationwide career, the one in his own Kevin Harvick Inc. equipment.

It was his fifth win at Bristol in the Nationwide Series, claimed his 33rd win and only fitting it happen at the track he owes.

Post race, Happy had the following comments to say.

"There's been a tremendous amount of pressure that I've put on myself; probably more pressure than any of the guys want to see at the shop over the last year, but it's been well worth the reward today."

"And I guess it's kind of fitting that it comes on what's been my most successful track in the nationwide Series here at Bristol, and I'm just glad it all finally came together."

Wow, it was just awesome to watch Happy win one in his own KHI equipment, congratulations to the entire team on this one, and I can't wait for the Food City 500 on Sunday afternoon.

Happy has won three races in his own KHI equipment in the Truck Series, all at Phoenix in 2002, 2003 and most recently in 2008.
