Why The Eagles Should Keep Their Draft Picks
With Draft day coming up many people are wondering who the Eagles will draft. Many people are saying the Eagles should trade one of their first round picks for an Anquan Boldin or even a Chad Johnson, but here are some reasons the Eagles should keep our draft picks.
Westbrook isn't getting any younger
All through the 2008-2009 season Brian Westbrook has been suffering injuries and it seems that he is on his last legs. he needs an eventual replacement. there are up to four running backs that could go first round in Knowshon Moreno, Beanie Wells, Donald Brown who was the Nations leading rusher at UCONN, and Lesean McCoy who had a great pro day.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I could see the Eagles passing up on Wells and Moreno because they are more of the grind it out type backs who Andy Reid does not favor. I could see the Eagles taking Donald Brown because he fits with Eagles offense. Andy Reid believes in screens and draws as the main components of running the ball. Wells and Moreno do not catch the ball efficiently out of the backfield as well as McCoy and Brown. The Eagles who do not necessarily draft all that well would need an eventual replacement for Westbrook
Tra Thomas is gone
Looking at the mock drafts Outside Tackle is a position where this draft is very deep. there are many quality tackles that will be available at 20 such as Eben Britton, Micheal Oher, and William Beaty. The Eagles need a left tackle if they want to avoid throwing the ball over 60% of the time and go to a more balanced offense they need to draft a left tackle and I don't think it would be a good move to move Herman to tackle although he played tackle in his rookie year, there are three tackles that are probably going to be available and they need one.
McNabb needs weapons to throw to
There will be many receivers that can possibly be available such as Kenny Britt, Percy Harvin, and Darrius Heyward Bey, but here is a guy that I really like, although they might have to trade up for him.
Brandon Pettigrew is the best tight end available in the draft and is extremely talented, he blocked for an Oklahoma State team that was one of the better teams in running the football. He can be a Tony Gonzalez type tight end who can spread the field out. Lets face it Brent Celek is a quality tight end but he won't spread the field out, if they have to trade up I would do it.
Longevity
When you look at teams like the Steelers and the Colts who do not make big splashes in free agency but believe in the draft, the Steelers let Joey Porter go to free agency and they found an even better replacement in James Harrison.
The Colts drafted two of the best wide receivers in Harrison and Wayne. And we all know nobody drafts better than Colts GM Bill Polian who drafted great players such as those great Buffalo teams that included Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed and Peyton Manning. Those are the teams that win games. I believe that the Eagles have a chance to draft a player who can be the a building block for years to come on the offensive side of the ball the Eagles are an old team. Players such as McNabb, Westbrook are aging and the Eagles have a chance to draft a player who can be a future hall of famer. If they have a great draft and address their needs at positions such as tackle and receiver they will position themselves to win.
