NFL Draft Watch: Michael Crabtree Leads Wide Recievers in the Draft

Wes MillerMar 21, 2009

Michael Crabtree could not possibly do better in college football; that is why he the best wide receiver in this year's NFL Draft.

During his brief college career he won the Biletnikoff Award twice. He also earned All-American honors.

He had 231 catches, 3,127 yards, and 41 touchdowns in just two years at Texas Tech.

Some of his positives are that he is ultra-productive. He is a competitive play maker, with average size.

He has excellent hands, and he can secure the ball quickly when he catches it. He uses his size and speed to create separation.

He is a great route runner that can run great slants. He also has excellent body control.

He is great at adjusting to poor throw by the quarterback. He is quick to stop and adjust for the ball behind him.

He keeps his legs moving while he is being tackled, and he always tries to make a play after the catch.

He shows good attitude and appears to be a solid teammate without a lot of off the field issues.

His negatives are he needs to speed up his release as he jumps off the line. Does not have the elite speed to separate from quick corners.

He has to improve on his downfield blocking, and he runs with the ball loose in the open field.

I have Michael Crabtree going fourth overall to the Seattle Seahawks.
