Spring Football Preview: Colorado State Rams

JeremyMar 21, 2009

Spring practice starts: Mar. 25

Spring game: Apr. 18

Three Things to Watch:

  1. For the second consecutive season, the Rams will head into spring without knowing who their starting quarterback will be.  There will be a competition between Grant Stucker and Klay Kubiak, as the two vie to replace Bill Farris.  Both played last season, however neither was impressive in their limited playing time.
  2. The Rams need to replace star running back Gartrell Johnson who might be the toughest player to replace.  Also, running back Kyle Bell is gone as well, and the two remaining running backs from last year's team John Mosure and Alex Square did not play much. The Rams do have a junior college running back, Leonard Mason, enrolled this spring.
  3. The defense needs to replace all four down lineman, however, they did return six starters last year on a team that was ranked 97th in the nation.  A need for an improved defense is imperative, if the Rams want to make another run at a bowl game.
