BCS Standings 2012: Complete Week 14 Rankings Released

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

Notre Dame's No. 1-ranked defense put a stranglehold on USC Saturday night in Los Angeles and in turn crushed the BCS National Championship hopes of a handful of contenders.

The Fighting Irish survived the Trojans, 22-13, to finish the regular season undefeated for the first time since 1988. Behind them, the other top eight teams in action all won in Week 13, making for a much less chaotic weekend than the previous one.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Oregon all blasted their rivals on Saturday. The Crimson Tide won 49-0 over Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the Bulldogs shellacked Georgia Tech 42-10, the Gators reeled off 24 fourth-quarter points to win 37-26 at Florida State, and the Ducks doubled up Oregon State on the road in the Civil War, 48-24.

LSU, Stanford and Texas A&M round out Week 13's Top 8 winners.

Week 13's results mean that the BCS National Championship Game will be a matchup of undefeated Notre Dame and either one-loss Alabama or one-loss Georgia, depending on which team wins the SEC title this weekend.

What's Next

The most anticipated matchup on the Week 14 slate will be Saturday's SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia. The showdown in the Georgia Dome will essentially be a national championship semifinal. The winner will play Notre Dame for the BCS title in January.

In the Big Ten Championship Game, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will attempt to knock off reigning conference champion Wisconsin in order to earn a trip to the Rose Bowl.

Other notable matchups include a Thursday night clash between Louisville and Rutgers in Piscataway to determine the Big East title, UCLA and Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship Game, and Texas at Kansas State in a game that the Wildcats must have to win the Big 12 and secure a BCS bowl bid.

There are only a handful of teams in action this week, but there is plenty on the line, setting the stage for what's sure to be an epic final weekend of college football.
