5 Possible Royal Rumble 2013 Winners

0 of 5

The 2013 edition of WWE's annual Royal Rumble event precedes what is projected to be one of the biggest WrestleManias of all time in WrestleMania 29.

Involvement from superstars such as The Rock, Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Triple H is surely going to give the show the fireworks WrestleMania is known for.

The main title matches are still to be decided and a lot of it depends on who will win the 2013 Royal Rumble that emanates from the US Airways Center in Phoenix.

While 30 superstars will enter the Royal Rumble in hopes of being the last man standing, only one man will have the honor of being the 2013 Royal Rumble winner and wrestling for a world title at WrestleMania.

Among those 30 men, there are five superstars that make the most sense when it comes to deserving a title shot at the big show and who will help the WWE make WrestleMania 29 one of the best of all time.

No. 5: The Miz

1 of 5

The Miz has been WWE Champion before and wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania when he defended the WWE title at WrestleMania 27.

Some fans argue that this accolade was overshadowed by The Rock's involvement and WWE focusing on the feud between Rock and Cena.

Since that time, The Miz has been a midcard talent fine-tuning his in-ring ability that was highlighted with a tag team run with R-Truth.

On the Raw 1,000 special, Miz defeated Christian to become Intercontinental and in the process also became the 25th Triple Crown winner in WWE history.

That being said, The Miz has earned his place on the WWE roster and is one of better talents the company has to offer.

With sharp microphone skills and athletic wrestling ability, having The Miz win Royal Rumble would put him on the fast track to returning to a title shot at WrestleMania.

Currently, The Miz is on the transition to the start of a babyface turn and for the most part, it's been working as fans have gotten behind him.

A WrestleMania feud for a major championship would bring legitimacy to Miz's bid on being a major play in professional wrestling.

No. 4: Ryback

2 of 5

Ryback busted back onto the WWE scene in April 2012 and has been on a tear ever since.

Running through local wrestlers and the midcard talent, Ryback earned himself two WWE Championship matches at Hell in a Cell and Survivor Series.

Ryback has caught on with the fans as chants of "feed me more" can be heard through the arena whenever Ryback appears.

Building on his success thus far, having Ryback win the Royal Rumble and then having him wrestle either the WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship would be the icing on the cake to his stellar run.

As mentioned, fans are already behind the 6'3" 291-pound star, and a Rumble win so early in his career would automatically make him a main-event player for years to come.

Having Ryback feud with a heel champion going into WrestleMania is exactly what the WWE needs to help Ryback from number contender to mainstay world champion.

No. 3: Daniel Bryan

3 of 5

Daniel Bryan has definitely turned the tide around since losing the World Heavyweight Championship in 18 seconds at WrestleMania 28 in Miami.

Since that night, Bryan has become a fan favorite with his "YES" chant and chemistry with fellow WWE Superstar Kane after the duo formed their Hell No tag team.

Also, Bryan has earned himself another championship after Hell No captured the WWE Tag Team Titles at Night of Champions.

It may still be too early to break up the rising tag team, but a Royal Rumble win at this stage of Bryan's career would help propel him to main-event status once again.

If the WWE wants to push Bryan to the top with the fans behind him, the Rumble and WrestleMania would be the perfect time.

The best scenario would be for the American Dragon to win the Royal Rumble and challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship that would be held by Sheamus, provided Sheamus can regain the title from Big Show.

Setting up another WrestleMania match between the two with the idea that Bryan claiming Sheamus' WrestleMania 28 win was a fluke and then actually giving them time to wrestle certainly has classic written all over it.

No. 2: John Cena

4 of 5

With Cena's Royal Rumble status uncertain in the early stages, John Cena winning the Royal Rumble would be an important ingredient to The Rock and CM Punk's WWE title match.

With Rocky and Punk set for wrestling for the title at the same event, Cena's bid to win the Royal Rumble would make sense given the winner of the title match would need an opponent for WrestleMania.

Should The Rock win the WWE title at the Rumble and Cena win the Rumble, it would set up a rematch between the two superstars and give the WWE a better way to defend their reason to put the two together at WrestleMania after dubbing their 28 blockbuster match as "once in a lifetime."

The Rumble win would also give Cena his second as he also won the Royal Rumble in 2008 and put him in a class with Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels, who also have two Royal Rumble wins.

It may not be the most popular choice amongst fans, but it's a possibility with all the storyline possibilities between himself, CM Punk and The Rock.

No. 1: Dolph Ziggler

5 of 5

Even though he currently holds the Money in the Bank contract for the World Heavyweight Championship, Dolph Ziggler winning the Rumble isn't too far out of reach.

One possible scenario would be for Ziggler to finally cash in his contract at December's Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, albeit unsuccessfully.

However, Ziggler would get a second opportunity at gold through entering and winning the Royal Rumble, which would give Ziggler a high-profile title match and ability to shoot himself to main-event status in the company.

Another scenario the company can go with is having Ziggler hold the contract and still win the Rumble. Having two opportunities at championship matches, the contract or Rumble win could be an insurance policy should Ziggler fail to capture gold in his first attempt.

Fans can't deny Ziggler's ability in wrestling, as he has proven himself to be one of the best performers in the world today, so much so that some fans have likened him to Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

A former World Heavyweight, Intercontinental, United States and World Tag Team Champion, Ziggler is the 22nd Triple Crown winner in WWE History and has solidified himself as a hardworking and athletic performer in the process.

Should the company finally pull the trigger on having Ziggler in the main event, the 2013 Royal Rumble would finally be the time for fans to take him seriously with the likes of John Cena, CM Punk and The Rock.
