Best St. Louis Cardinals Reliever Mustache (Contestant No. 3)
Aw yeah, baby. I’ve been thinking about bacon all week, and of course, the greatest sports tournament in the world begins today with my VCU Rams looking solid. But it’s mustache Thursday so I’m juiced.
Today we continue JSF’s “The Monthly Mustache Shakedown.” It’s week three of our first Shakedown series as we look for the “Best St. Louis Cardinals Reliever Mustache.”
In week one, we looked at “The Mad Hungarian” Al Hrabosky. In week two, it was Jeff Kent’s taller twin brother Todd Worrell. And now….drum roll please….we examine the lip sweater of Daniel Raymond Quisenberry.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Known for his submarine-style pitching delivery and deeply dyed labia sebucula (Latin for “lip sweater”), most people remember Quiz as a longtime Royals stopper. But in fact, in 1983, the Royals signed him to a lifetime contract, and after a rocky start in 1988, Quisenberry was released by the Royals. Just more than a week later, he was signed by the Cardinals, who were managed by ex-Royals manager, Whitey Herzog.
Quiz stuck around The Lou for about a year-and-a-half, working hand-in-hand with the American Mustache Institute’s Dept of Grass Roots Flavor Saving and compiling five wins and six saves. More importantly, however, he brought the mouth curtain back to the Cardinals, as the team’s commitment to people of Mustached American descent had waned in the mid-1980s.
So there it is, JSF readers—the third contestant of the “Best St. Louis Cardinals Relievers Mustaches.” Based on your feedback, we had to trot out the submarine-armed and excellently mouth-browed Dan Quisenberry .
