NASCAR: Jimmie Johnson’s Next Goal

From the below selections which would you say were on Jimmie Johnson’s list of things to do? Which would be the top priority?

1. Be within the top 12 drivers after the fall Richmond event.
2. Three-pete the Sprint Cup Championship.
3. Avoid link)','caption', 'National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing' );">NASCAR Fine & PC Police.
4. Hit the Five Hole.
5. Receive a “Two and Ten” penalty for checking from behind (2 minutes) a former smart-alec teammate and a Misconduct Penalty (10 minutes) for “actions detrimental”… etc.

If you answered any combination of 1-3 you’d be correct looking at the long term.

However, if the time frame were compressed to say, last night and at the Deja Blue Arena in Frisco, Texas selecting #4 or #5 wins you a cupie doll. Or a Lone Star beer, or something to be named later. (Whatever, I’m not in charge of prize selection around here.)

Johnson laced up his skates for the first time since his boyhood in Southern California and faced off against Dallas Star’s superstar Center Mike Modano.

Wearing a personalized Stars #48 sweater, Johnson was able to stay on his feet during his 20 minutes on the ice despite some jitters because there were so many reporters watching and so many cameras recording his efforts.

“I went around and didn’t hit the wall,” Johnson said. “I wish all the cameras weren’t here, that’s for sure. But it’s a blast. I like to see what goes on with other sports.” (well, other sports where you don’t come into contact with a golf cart right Jimmie? - ed)

Said Modano: “He wanted to stay upright the whole time.”
