UFC 154 Results: Live Reaction for Every Fight

UFC 154 comes to you from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada live on Saturday night.

UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre returns to the Octagon after a long time away from the cage to find out who the true UFC champion is against UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit.

The co-main event of the evening may determine the number one contender for the championship when Martin Kampmann and Johny Hendricks square off.

The 13 fight main card kicks off in the early evening on Facebook. The live and free portion of the undercard features four bouts.

The action then moves to FX at 8 p.m. ET with four more fights before the PPV begins at 10 p.m. ET.

Round 1

They exchange early, and it is GSP who is going forward. The crowd is deafening. GSP throws a combination and Condit just slips by. GSP with a goob jab as Condit exits. GSP goes for the takedown and has Condit down. Condit goes for an armbar, but GSP is wise to it. GSP passes to half-guard. Wild guard and pound, but that allows Condit to get to full guard. GSP back to half-guard, and Condit regains full guard. GSP is relentless in his ground and pound attempts. Good elbow by GSP.

Round 2

Condit throws a combination, but GSP is way out of range of the attempt. GSP trying to close the distance. Good jab from GSP. Condit starting to come forward. GSP hits him with a right. Carlos throws a kick and GSP explodes into a takedown. GSP is in half-guard. Condit is bloodied. Condit goes for a leg, but GSP quickly defends. Another big elbow by GSP. Condit gets back to his feet with 10 seconds remaining.

Round 3

Inside leg kick from GSP. Condit drops GSP with a head kick! GSP hanging on in guard. Condit is furiously trying to finish! Elbow by Condit. GSP is back to his feet. Right hand by Condit and he takes him down hard! What a fight! GSP slowing the pace down now that he is on top. He is being methodical with his ground and pound. GSP moves Condit against the fence. Condit gets to his feet but GSP has his hands locked around him. Back to the ground they go. Condit goes for a sweep but it falls just short. GSP back to half-guard.

Round 4

Condit throws a couple early leg kicks. GSP closes the distance and takes Condit back to the ground. GSP is in side control, but Condit gets back to half-guard quickly. Condit remains active from the bottom, but GSP is in total control. Back to half-guard GSP goes. Effortless passing by GSP. Condit throws his legs up again. Condit tries going for a kneebar. GSP is out and stays on top. Condit is back to his feet, and he ends up on top of GSP. GSP reverses and gets back on top.

Round 5

Condit with more leg kicks at the beginning of the fifth and final round. GSP changes levels and gets his sixth takedown, but Condit gets back to his feet quickly. Condit lands a right hand over the top. Condit with a good combination to back GSP up. Solid jab from GSP. Another good jab by GSP. Another jab and GSP changes levels for another takedown. In half-guard now. GSP trying to slide in to side control, but Condit is doing an excellent job. Condit gives up his back. A fantastic scramble ensues, and GSP stays on top in Condit's guard. GSP will remain on top as time remains.

GSP defeats Condit by unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45) to become the Undisputed UFC Welterweight Champion.

GSP returned as if he never had an injury. He was phenomenal. And a lot of props has to be given to Carlos Condit for his outstanding performance. It just was not enough to stop the machine that is GSP. The champion had to overcome adversity in this fight, and he also shut up all his critics who disapproved of his recent fights. GSP was phenomenal.

Round 1

Kampmann opens up with kicks to keep Hendricks at a distance. Hendricks possesses massive power. Hendricks levels Kampmann. Wow.

Hendricks defeats Kampmann by KO at :46 in the first round.

Round 1

Lawlor comes forward and clinches. Lawlor is keeping him pressed against the fence and putting all of his weight on Carmont. The referee separates them against the cage. Lawlor presses Carmont back up against the cage. Carmont tries a standing Kimura. Lawlor escapes that attempt easily. They return to distance. Lawlor jumps into a guillotine and has full guard. Carmont gets out as the round ends.

Round 2

Carmont opens the round with an inside leg kick. Good knee by Carmont. Lawlor gets Carmont back to the fence. He is able to stifle Carmont from this position, but is unable to really do any damage. They get off the cage. Lawlor changes levels for a takedown, but it is stuffed. Lawlor continued to work for it from the clinch and gets Carmont on his back. Back to the feet they go. Lawlor gets him down again. Carmont throws his legs up haphazardly, and Lawlor ends up with another guillotine try. Carmont rides it out.

Round 3

Body kick from Carmont finds a home. Carmont tries a flying knee, and Lawlor catches that and pushes him to the fence. The referee gets impatient and separates the fighters. Lawlor's gameplan is very effective. Carmont has a hard time keeping Lawlor off of him. Carmont is able to separate again, but only has 90 seconds to work. Not much occurs and the fight ends.

Carmont defeats Lawlor by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

I am going to write this reaction as if Lawlor got the win he so rightfully deserved.

This has to be one of the most disappointing performances of the night, but all the credit goes to Tom Lawlor for an excellent gameplan against one of the division's top prospects. Lawlor controlled where this fight took place and did not allow Carmont to get going in any aspect.

Round 1

Bocek comes forward and puts Dos Anjos against the fence, but Dos Anjos reverses and separates. Bocek presses forward again and clinches against the fence. Bocek is trying hard to get this fight to the mat. Dos Anjos lands some good knees. Dos Anjos lands some nice leg kicks. Bocek gets the Thai clinch and pushes Dos Anjos back to the cage. Dos Anjos continues to stuff the takedown attempts. Dos Anjos lands a kick and Bocek rushes forward trying to get the fight to the ground, but Dos Anjos' balance is excellent early.

Round 2

Bocek opens up early on and nails Dos Anjos with a low kick below the belt. Referee halts the bout until Dos Anjos gives the go ahead. Bocek goes for a takedown, but Dos Anjos spins him around and takes him down. Dos Anjos is focusing on a Kimura, but switches to an armbar and Bocek is out. Bocek is bloodied. Bocek goes for another lazy takedown, and Dos Anjos ends up taking him down. They get back up, but Dos Anjos takes him down again.

Round 3

Dos Anjos tries a takedown but Bocek stuffs it. Dos Anjos with a combination and then takes Bocek back down. Bocek is taking a beating and is tired. They are back to their feet. Bocek trying hard for the takedown, but Dos Anjos is too good at this point. The referee separates them and they close out the fight exchanging strikes.

Dos Anjos defeats Bocek by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

This was the best Dos Anjos we have ever seen inside the Octagon. He dominated the fight from start to finish and never allowed Bocek to get any sort of offense going. Dos Anjos has looked phenomenal in his last few fights and he is starting to make a bit of a statement at 155-pounds.

Round 1

Hominick comes forward immediately. They exchange leg kicks. Garza using his length to keep Hominick on the outside. Good combination from Hominick. Garza mixing up his strikes. Garza's strikes are being blocked, and Hominick counters. Hominick is starting to pick him apart. Garza goes for the takedown, but Hominick tosses him down. Garza transitions for an armbar. Hominick gets out and remains on top. Good ground and pound from Hominick. Garza pushes Hominick off and they are back to their feet. Body shot hurts Garza! Garza survives and lands a right. Garza pressing forward and throwing. Great flurry by Garza to close the round!

Round 2

Hominick lands a clean right. Garza shoots for a takedown, and after a scramble he gets on top. Hominick is active from the bottom. Solid elbows from inside the guard by Garza. Garza postures up and reigns down blows. The short ground and pound has been effective. Garza's elbows have done a lot of damage.

Round 3

Hominick pushing forward. Garza shoots in and gets the takedown. Hominick continues to throw his legs up looking for a submission, but Garza is too skilled on the ground to be caught in an omaplata or armbar like that. Garza is content to grind this fight out. Hominick finally gets back to his feet, but it quickly winds up back on the mat.

Garza defeats Hominick by unanimous decision (29-27, 30-26, 29-28)

Great fight from Garza. He was hurt in the first by the body shot, but responded with a submission attempt and a late round flurry that hurt Hominick. The second and third rounds was ground domination. Hominick drops another fight inside the Octagon and it may be time to evaluate if he needs to go to the regional MMA scene to pick up a couple wins before coming back to the UFC. It has been a sharp fall from the top of the ladder for Hominick.

Round 1

The Canadian crowd is fired up for this fight with large chants for Cote. Cote landing a nice low inside leg kick early on. Cote lands a good combination that hurts Sakara. Sakara lands good elbows and he drops Cote. Hammerfists knock out Cote! Those were to the back of the head, but we will see how the referee declares it when Bruce Buffer announces the decision.

Cote defeats Sakara by disqualification at 1:26 of the first round

Sakara hurt Cote before the shots to the back of the head, and that is something no other 185-pound fighter has ever done. Phenomenal performance especially coming back from a KO loss even in spite of the DQ loss. It was in the heat of the fight, but the right call was made. Unfortunate by Sakara, but the right call was ultimately made.

Round 1

Griggs is ultra-aggressive and gets clipped. Griggs goes down and Diabate goes to side control. Griggs gets to his feet, but Diabate takes him down. Diabate wanting to keep this on the ground. Griggs working back to his feet with a busted nose. Griggs gets on top, but Diabate stands up. Griggs takes him down, but Diabate takes his back. He gets the rear-naked choke and the tap.

Diabate defeats Griggs via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:24 of the first round

I certainly did not expect Diabate to win by submission, but it was the precision strike that started it all. He busted Griggs up and capitalized right away. The Snake gets the unexpected submission finish. Great performance.

Round 1

The two skilled strikers touch gloves and the bout is underway. Stout is the fighter coming forward, but Makdessi is comfortable countering. Makdessi lands a stiff jab. Good leg kick from Stout. Stout is doing a good job of going to the body on his combinations. Another good leg kick from Stout, and Makdessi counters. Another jab by Makdessi. Stout changes level for a takedown but abandons the attempt quickly. Another Makdessi jab finds it mark. Spinning back kick from Makdessi. Close round with combinations from Stout and strong jabs from Makdessi. "The Bull" closed this round stong.

Round 2

Makdessi seems a tad more aggressive this round. Stout pressing forward but not connecting. Stout keeps trying to land an overhand right, but Makdessi is easily slipping that punch. Stout drives for a double, but a good sprawl from Makdessi prevents the takedown. Head kick by Stout lands without a lot of force, but it will get Makdessi's attention. Solid counter from Makdessi as Stout closes the distance. Makdessi continues to land the jab. Makdessi is more accurate with his strikes. Stout tries another takedown but fails.

Round 3

Makdessi continues to counter with proficiency. Stout continues to come forward. Stout lands a leg kick, but Makdessi catches it. Stout charges in and gets caught with another clean jab. That is the move of the fight thus far. Another jab by Makdessi and then he catches Stout with a straight right. Stout dives for a takedown but Makdessi easily steps away.Stout is getting even more aggressive, but yielding the same results. Accuracy beats aggression.

Makdessi defeats Stout by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

Makdessi looked great tonight. His striking was crisp and his defense was impeccable. Stout continued to push the action all three rounds, but that played right in to the hands of Makdessi's counter-striking. The jab was accurate and made all the difference in the bout. Stout needed a completely different gameplan against Makdessi tonight.

Round 1

Neither fighter has thrown a strike in the first 30 seconds. Good straight right by Damm. Carvalho lands a low leg kick. Carvalho seems like he is waiting to explode on Damm. Nice leg kick by Carvalho. Carvalho goes high with a kick, but it hits nothing but air. More leg kicks from Carvalho. The left leg of Damm has taken the full force of several of those leg kicks. The Canadian crowd seems to be growing a bit restless. Another one lands on the left leg of Damm. That could be a major issue the longer this fight goes on. Damm hits Carvalho with a jab.

Round 2

More of the same early in the second. Carvalho throws a high kick but falls. They hit the mat and a scramble ensures. They end up back on their feet. Not much action has been brought forward since they ended up back on the feet. Carvalho is mixing it up well on his leg kicks. Damm starts to throw more in the final minute of the round, but nothing really lands.

Round 3

They open the third frame just as tentative as they did the second. Good leg kick from Damm. Carvalho loses his mouthpiece and the action is briefly halted. Damm's leg is looking kind of kosher. Damm continues to throw huge punches as he looks for a finish. Carvalho goes high with another kick and it grazes Damm. Damm is the one coming forward while neither throw often.

Carvalho defeats Damm by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

It was not a very entertaining fight. Carvalho did significant damage with the leg kicks, but never followed it up or put together many combinations. On the other hand, Damm failed to shoot in for a takedown to get the fight to the ground. They were content standing at range exchanging single strikes. 

Round 1

Both men are taking their time in the opening minute. Maguire lands a low leg kick, but it was only the foot that connected. Maguire lands a decent right. Riddle throws a low kick that Maguire catches. Each man is still trying to figure out the distance on their striking. Maguire catches the leg again, but Riddle jumps into a spinning back kick to get out. All style but no substance on that attempt by Riddle. He does it again, but Maguire tries to pounce afterwards. Riddle reverses against the cage and has Maguire penned there for the moment. Nice left by Maguire. Not a lot of action in the close round.

Round 2

Riddle is the aggressor thus far in the bout. Riddle puts him against the fence, but they separate quickly after. A good left connects from Maguire. Another lands. Riddle catches a kick and shoves Maguire down, but does not immediately follow up. He is very cautious of his jiu-jitsu. Riddle goes in to Magurie's guard. Riddle stands back up after Maguire tries to sweep. The referee stands them back up. Maguire shoots in, but Riddle stuffs the shot. A right hook lands from Maguire. He goes for a guillotine, but Riddle defends well. Another close round.

Round 3

Good shot from Riddle lands to open the third. Maguire lands a right as they separate. Apologies to you all as I lost my Facebook stream for the final three minutes of the fight.

Riddle defeats Maguire by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

The first two rounds were very close. I have no qualms with anyone that disagrees with that scoring. I felt Maguire landed the cleaner blows in those frames, and also had the guillotine submission attempt to boot. Riddle landed more leg kicks, but that seemed to be about it early on. Those first two rounds were virtually even. All in all it is a decent win for Riddle over a tough opponent.

Round 1

A little bit of a feeling out process to start the fight. Gashimov shoots in for the takedown and he completes it. Menjivar locking Gashimov up from full guard to avoid damage. Menjivar starts to go for a submission and Gashimov powers out. Menjivar doing an excellent job of stifling Gashimov.Menjivar explodes with an armbar attempt and taps out Gashimov.

Menjivar defeats Gashimov via submission (armbar) at 2:44 of the first round

Menjivar's guard was fantastic. He avoided any damage and was constantly seeking a submission. The armbar was brutal and may have done serious damage to Gashimov's arm, but nothing is certain until the post-fight medicals. Fantastic win for Menjivar.

Round 1

UFC 154 gets underway with the sound of the horn. Elkins pushes forwards with punches early. Siler seems more selective in his attacks. Elkins connects on a few punches. Elkins gets Siler against the cage. Elkins gets Siler to the mat. Siler gets to full guard, but Siler postures up to break it briefly. Good ground and pound from Elkins. Elkins nearly gets to side control, but Siler puts him in to half-guard. Elkins has control of Siler's neck, but has to let it go. Siler gets back to full guard. Siler gets up and gets taken right back down. Siler tries to get up and Elkins grabs his neck. Siler survives the submission attempt.

Round 2

Elkins shoots in and takes Siler to the ground early in the second round. Elkins tries a neck crank but cannot finish with it. Siler continues to regain guard. Siler lands a good upkick. Siler tries to get to his feet and Elkins takes his back. Elkins had a rear-naked but Siler had control of one of his hands to avoid the submission being locked in. Elkins lands punch after punch trying to make Siler make a mistake. Elkins locks in the rear-naked choke, but Siler stays alive and forces Elkins to abandon the attempt. Elkins gets the rear-naked again, but it isn't fully locked in and Siler grinds it out until the end of the round.

Round 3

Siler is the man coming forward in the third round, but it is not a fast pace. Elkins lands a nice jab. Elkins gets a takedown and Siler is down once again. Siler back to his feet, but Elkins is clinging to his body. They break from the fence. Elkins shoots in, Siler fights it off briefly, but the relentless attempt eventually succeeds. Elkins is smothering Siler. The fight gets back to the feet at the minute mark. Elkins with an easy takedown. Siler is gassed from the beating. Siler tries for a choke, but Elkins slips out and the fight closes.

Elkins defeats Siler by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Elkins did what was expected. It was a grinding performance with plenty of ground and pound thrown in. It his is fourth straight and remains undefeated in the featherweight division. Siler will need to go back and work on his wrestling defense, but he showed a tremendous amount of heart in the fight.
