WWE Survivor Series 2012: 5 Storylines That Need to Be Addressed
WWE Survivor Series is days away and we look to have a pretty solid and wrestling-heavy card ahead. We already have six matches set in stone, including four championship matches and a traditional Survivor Series bout with teams captained by Mick Foley and Dolph Ziggler.
There is still room for more matches to be added as bonuses and, in the process, some questions that can be answered. I have noticed a few things during TV since Hell in A Cell that have gone unanswered and I am going to use this list to shed some light on the subjects that I hope can be addressed this Sunday.
As always, I welcome anyone to point out whatever I missed along the way. Let's get to it!
1. What Is Cody Rhodes' Status?
1 of 5This isn't so much a storyline, but it's certainly a question that certainly needs to be addressed as soon as possible. If you missed WWE Main Event on Wednesday, Cody Rhodes took a hellacious spill during a back body drop given by Kane. Rhodes landed hard on his shoulder and head, and as you can see in the picture, he was pretty shaken up.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider (via WrestlingInc), Rhodes is scheduled for another evaluation Friday. If it is determined that he can't compete at Survivor Series, WWE will have to scramble to make a formal announcement for his replacement.
I don't know of the mechanics involved in post-production, but with SmackDown already taped and ready to go, it remains to be seen if they can insert an announcement into the broadcast or simply use WWE.com to tell everyone who would be the replacement for Team Ziggler.
2. Will Kaitlyn's Attacker Finally Be Revealed?
2 of 5You can say what you want about the quality of the Divas division, but the few ladies involved right now are making the most of what they have been given. Eve, Layla and Kaitlyn are essentially the only ones regularly featured every week, and the mystery of who attacked Kaitlyn at Night of Champions has not been solved.
Whether Kaitlyn or Eve emerges victorious, this could be a great opportunity to introduce one of the young ladies from NXT as her assailant...someone who is either working with Eve or a rogue who is tired of the way the Divas division has been treated.
3. What Is William Regal's Condition?
3 of 5over the course of the past two weeks in the form of William Regal, first assaulting the Englishman in a pub. Regal then teamed with Sheamus in a losing effort against Wade Barrett and The Big Show. Regal once again fought The Big Show to a loss on this past Monday's Raw and got himself assaulted and knocked out backstage.
We were told after the beating that Regal suffered a possible concussion and broken jaw. With his fighting spirit, I wouldn't expect Regal to stay down and out for that long if he is to continue appearing as a part of this story. Hopefully he will make an appearance at Survivor Series.
4. Why Did Kofi Kingston Reject the Miz's Handshake?
4 of 5After The Miz's fourth consecutive loss to Kofi Kingston, The Miz looked like he had admitted defeat for good. While Kingston celebrated around the ring, The Miz approached him and extended his arm. Kofi answered immediately with a dropkick to the face and The Miz left the ring visibly angry.
Days later on Raw, The Miz was voted in as the final member of Team Foley, effectively turning himself into a babyface in the process.
While I understand these sort of things are expected to be forgotten over time, the fact that Kofi Kingston now has to compete on the same team as the guy he so blatantly kicked in the face just last week makes me wonder if something could happen between the two men. I talked last week about The Miz and Kofi Kingston pulling a double switch, and half of that has already taken place.
Could we be seeing the new side of Kofi Kingston finally emerging?
5. What Role Does Dolph Ziggler Play in the John Cena/AJ Controversy?
5 of 5I am really looking forward to what is hopefully going to be a one-on-one encounter between Dolph Ziggler and John Cena. My curiosity lies in exactly why it is happening.
Dolph Ziggler has referred to Vickie Guerrero as his "former" manager, so the two have indeed parted ways, but that hasn't stopped Ziggler from making an appearance every time Vickie appears with new evidence regarding the alleged affair between John Cena and AJ Lee. What exactly does Ziggler have to do with all of this? Does he have some romantic interest in AJ, or does he simply want to make her and John Cena's lives as miserable as possible?
Hopefully we get the answers to all of these questions by the conclusion of Survivor Series. Please join in the conversation below and tell me any other gaps you want to see filled as well. Thank you as always for reading!
