Leonard Weaver Headed To The Iggles

NFL News And RumorsAnalyst IMarch 18, 2009

Leonard Weaver has signed a one year deal worth $1.75 million with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He is now going to play in a backfield already consisting of Pro Bowlers Donovan McNabb, and Brian Westbrook, the three should form a dynamic trio.

Weaver was also fielding offers from the Buccanners, Vikings, and former team the Seahawks.

His role will most likely be the change of pace RB, a role vacated when Correll Buckhalter bolted for the Denver Broncos. He will also naturally serve as Westbrooks' primary blocker.

It is said the Buccanners, and Vikings offered more money, and more years, but he felt more comfortable in Andy Reid's offense, which is very similar to former Seahawks Head Coach Mike Holmgren's offense

Signing a one year deal will put Weaver back on the market in 2010 as he continues to build his resume for an even bigger payday.
