Update on Brad Maddox's Future; Triple H's Views on Him

Sharon GlencrossJun 7, 2018

Referee turned wrestler Brad Maddox had a rough time of it on Raw last night.

Per the storyline, the attention-seeking star claims he screwed Ryback out of the WWE Championship at last month's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view to get himself noticed after years of anonymity.

He was then was given the shot at winning a massive $1 million dollar contract from Vince McMahon, but there was one problem: he just had to beat Ryback first.

A rather daunting prospect, right? And, unsurprisingly, it turned out the younger wrestler wasn't up for the challenge, as he lost to Ryback in a quick squash match. To make matters worse, the former referee was then brutalized further by the monster babyface for several minutes after the bell rang.

The angle ended with him then being carried off in an ambulance (which WWE helpfully had at ringside) seemingly being written out of the storylines for the time being.

So, what is his future?

Well, PWInsider (via Wrestlinginc) says we likely haven't seen the last of Maddox, and he should emerge back on television at some point in the future. In something that will no doubt help greatly in his quest for WWE success, it also appears Maddox has a big ally in management: C.O.O Triple H.

"

According to PWInsider, sources say we haven't seen the last of Brad Maddox after Ryback destroyed him on last night's RAW and sent him away in an ambulance. Maddox will be off WWE TV for a while to sell the beatdown but he has a big fan in Triple H so he will be getting a new role in early 2013.

"

Fans should welcome this news. While (relative) newcomer Maddox is still a little green in some arenas, he showed great potential during his mini-feud with Ryback, both on the mic and in the ring (impressively, he was bumping around like crazy last night to make his foe look like a million bucks). With some time and effort on WWE's part, he could be a star one day.
