Lock of the Week
No. 3 Oregon at California
Over/Under: 66.5, Spread: California (+28.5)
While the 28.5-point spread will terrify most gamblers, the Oregon Ducks are the biggest lock of Week 11 in college football.
California has been terrible in 2012, and Oregon’s defensive and offensive units will be looking to send a message to the BCS that the Ducks deserve the No. 2 spot in the nation.
After being dismantled by USC and almost losing that game in Week 10, the Ducks will look to return to the form that scared most of the college football landscape by holding California to under 10 points and scoring over 40 themselves.
Don’t be afraid of this spread; Oregon will have you covered.
Upset Special
Penn State at No. 16 Nebraska
Over/Under: 51, Spread: Nebraska (-8.5)
When Penn State squares off against Nebraska in what could become the Big Ten battle of the year, the underrated Nittany Lions will give the Cornhuskers everything they can handle and then some.
Penn State’s surprisingly talented defensive unit (14th in the nation) will give Nebraska’s sixth-ranked run offense fits all day, effectively ruining the Cornhuskers’ game plan.
With the Nittany Lions offense carving up a susceptible Nebraska defense (54th in the nation), the biggest surprise of the day could come at the hands of Penn State. The Cornhuskers are on upset alert.
Underdog That’ll Cover the Spread
Arizona State at No. 19 USC
Over/Under: 63.5, Spread: USC (-9)
While there is little doubt that the USC Trojans offense is one of the best in the sport—23rd in the nation with 36.8 points per game—it is the team’s defensive unit that has let the team down time and time again.
After giving up 39 and 62 points each of the last two weeks respectively, USC squares off with an Arizona State Sun Devils team with a very dangerous offense. ASU has scored at least 36 points in five games this season, and it will do the same against USC’s porous group Saturday as well.
The Sun Devils may not win the shootout with Matt Barkley and the Trojans in Los Angeles, but USC will not cover the nine-point spread. Ride with ASU and the points.
