Fantasy Football Week 10: Top 20 NFL Wide Receivers Poised for a Big Weekend

Matt SchreiberNov 9, 2012

Fantasy football Week 10 is already underway. Last night we saw Andrew Luck put on a solid performance with his two rushing touchdowns. Cecil Shorts highlighted the night with six catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Now that Sunday is less than two days away let's take a look at the top wide receivers for this week's action.

1. Julio Jones - Atlanta Falcons

Julio is this week's clear cut No. 1 fantasy receiver as he is up against a New Orleans Saints defense that has surrendered 29.6 points per game to fantasy wide receivers. Julio has caught 40 balls for 628 yards and five touchdowns this year. Jones will certainly add to those numbers this week.

2. A.J. Green - Cincinnati Bengals

A.J. may possibly be the best big-play guy in the league. His height makes him difficult for defenders to cover. He will be going up against a New York Giants defense that has much difficulty guarding big-play wide receivers.

3. Calvin Johnson - Detroit Lions

Megatron has only caught one touchdown this year and has disappointed many fantasy owners. Look for him to get back on track this week against a Minnesota Vikings defense that won't be able to stop him from going up and making plays.

4. Roddy White - Atlanta Falcons

White, like Jones, will be facing a horrible defense in New Orleans. Quarterback Matt Ryan loves to spread the ball to these guys. White will be a nightmare for Saints defensive backs.

5. Victor Cruz - New York Giants

Cruuuuuuuz will be doing a couple of salsa dances for his fellow Giants fans on Sunday. Look for him to make big plays on small Bengals cornerbacks.

6. Vincent Jackson - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jackson and his quarterback, Josh Freeman, might have better chemistry going than 90 percent of quarterback-wide receiver duos this year. It's likely to continue against his former team, the San Diego Chargers, this week, as Jackson wants to stick it to his old pals.

7/8. Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker - Denver Broncos

Surprisingly enough, the Carolina Panthers, their opponent Sunday, have only surrendered 15.6 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Bad news for Carolina though, Peyton Manning doesn't care about these stats. He zings the ball into tight spaces where guys like Thomas and Decker will make plays and will both put up big numbers as they have all year.

9. Wes Welker - New England Patriots

Welker is coming fresh off a bye week and so is his quarterback Tom Brady. That won't bode well for a Buffalo Bills defense who ranks in the bottom 10 in the league for passing yards allowed per game with 252.

10. Mike Wallace - Pittsburgh Steelers

Wallace will see plenty of targets this week as his sidekick, Antonio Brown, is out with an injury. The Pittsburgh Steelers are 14-0 in their last 14 Monday Night Football home games. Wallace will help take the streak to 15 games with a huge night.

That rounds up the top 10, folks. Below you will find a chart containing the top 20 fantasy wide receivers for the week along with who they play against. The final column contains the number of fantasy points the wide receiver's opponent has given up on average each game to fantasy receivers.
