Can Chuck Liddell Bedazzle Montreal After Causing GSP's Headache?
Not only has Chuck Liddell fallen on his own hard times in losing three out of his last four fights, trying to act as the whistle blower in the "Vaseline-Gate" that has beleaguered popular Georges St-Pierre, may make the Montreal fight the biggest of his career.
Publicly, President Dana White has announced that to remain in the UFC, his friend Liddell must absolutely "dazzle White" with his fight against Shogun Rua.
Perhaps threatening his friend is seen as motivating him, to Mr. White.
I see it as an act of attempted intimidation by a petty tyrant.
There is no doubt in my mind that where Tito Ortiz was concerned, Dana followed through with his threats, although in my opinion the UFC and Tito's many remaining fans were also hurt by Dana's decision to oust his "former" client and best friend.
But that is just Dana "my way or no way in hell" F'n White for ya.
A peace keeper he is not.
But with Dana's own prized, "punked," pet Liddell, who has gotten passes on both lewd an lascivious behavior (which reflects poorly on any organization he represents), and has fallen into a stupor while being interviewed in Dallas, Texas, (causing great consternation for his interviewer as well as the audience), will Dana even follow through?
I, for one, would greatly doubt it.
Matt Hughes bragged to close friends about being rewarded with a million dollars for stepping up to be the main fight headlining the London show that Liddell had to drop our of with a severe hamstring injury.
According to Hughes' friends, he was also promised a cool million for his next fight as well, which turns out to be his much postponed and now lackluster fight at UFC 98 with Matt Serra.
Now whether these bonuses were reported or paid under the table in the locker room, I would not know, but I do not for a moment doubt it. Matt is a "Dana boy" too.
Dana rewards and promotes his friends, whether they deserve it.
Others outside his circle of friends are treated less humanely and are often left to twist slowly in the wind, with Dana providing a lot of the hot air that is twisting them.
So how dazzling will Chuck manage to be in a stadium with Georges St-Pierre present (I am of course assuming that he will be). and an arena packed with GSP supporters?
In my fertile imaginings: The air will fill with boos and cold shoulders turned toward the Iceman and he will be chilled and stiff with the cold Canadian atmosphere.
So chilled in fact, that the hot blooded Shogun Rua will systematically deconstruct Liddel in the center of the Octagon. Georges and his fellow Canadians can yell "Ole" and chant at the pot- bellied b_ _ _ _ _ d's much deserved demise.
Wow! I can already hear it!
"Ole,ole, ole, ole...ole, ole!"
Hopefully, the headache Chuck Liddell caused for Georges will be worth the joy of seeing Dana have to carry through and throw the wasted, over-the-hill Iceman out into the cold world outside the UFC.
I am not a very good prophet, but I doubt many people will want a washed out rock star, party hard, pot bellied has been of a brawler in charge of their finances, especially since he can not handle his own.
Too bad, Charlie, but only the best get ass-kissed.
