It Is Time For Jay Cutler To Start Being Accountable For His Actions

Steven ResnickMar 16, 2009

Jay Cutler is acting like a baby when the pacifier either falls out or is taken away by the parent.

He is whining, he is crying, and acting like a baby. For what reason, though?

The apparent interest that Cutler's Broncos were looking at Matt Cassel.

Last time I checked, Cassel was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second-round pick. So is Jay Cutler the starting quarterback for the Chiefs?

As of today, through his agent Gus Cook, Cutler has asked for a trade and will not step foot in the training facilities or team meetings if he gets his way.

Does this sound like a great team leader? Does this sound like a man who is going to be held accountable for his actions?

Or does this sound like a spoiled child who doesn't get their way?

There are plenty of players in all professional sports that are subject to trade rumors or get shopped by their team. Yet, most of these athletes realize it is a business and that the team has to do what's best for business.

Sometimes the trades do go through, other times the trade doesn't materialize, like in the situation with Cutler. But Cutler is acting in such a way that no team would want him even with the talent he possesses.

NFL teams are going to see if Cutler is not happy then he's going to bring the whole team down with him because his teammates will have to take sides.

So far, Cutler has missed the Broncos' first team meeting and he's missed a fundraiser, although he did make a donation.

Cutler has also put his house up for sale and his parents also have put their home up for sale. This is significant because it means Cutler is not looking to be a Bronco.

Cutler needs to do an about-face, and the first step is to be held accountable for his actions. That means taking responsibility for not attending the fundraiser and furthermore missing the team's first team meeting.

He needs to let his teammates know that even though he is currently unhappy with the situation, he is a Denver Bronco and that he'll continue to give the 100 percent effort.

That won't happen, and the Broncos will continue to be in the news with the Cutler situation.

The best thing for the Broncos' organization to do is fine and suspend Cutler until he finally gets his act together. The organization should not tolerate the actions of Cutler who feels like he's above the team.
