The news got worse for Holifield, as reported by Ashley Colley of NBC 8 KOMU. She confirms that Holifield was kicked off the team. It was his second drug-related arrest, the first of which suspended him for the early October contest against Vanderbilt.

Holifield, a Tallahassee native, has intriguing size at 6'5" and could have developed into a big-time receiving target, but his career was over before it even started. He will have to overcome this off-field hurdle before he ever has the opportunity to see game action in college football.

As Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reported after the team's 42-10 loss to No. 1 Alabama,  Mizzou was already struggling at tight end. A muscle to strain for top option Eric Waters has kept him out of the past two games, and he has been in and out of the lineup all season.

Sean Culkin, a fellow freshman tight end like Holifield, has also not had an impact at all despite his immense receiving potential. He, too, has registered zero catches along with Holifield, who will not have a chance to improve on that number.

The Tigers have endured an arduous, injury-plagued season, which has compounded the difficulty of their transition to the SEC.

This latest arrest of Holifield may not have the biggest immediate impact, but Mizzou definitely needs more production out of the tight end position moving forward to create mismatches in Pinkel's spread offensive scheme.

Holifield would have presumably helped out with that at some point. Unfortunately, he couldn't stay out of trouble in Columbia.
