Atlanta Falcons Tight End Tony Gonzalez Speaks Up and Gets Dissed

Frank SpartiJun 7, 2018

OK, I have seen everything. Tony Gonzalez says what every Falcons fan can already see, and he gets dissed by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Tony Gonzalez said to Jim Corbett of USA Today, "Is the national media making a big deal about us like they would if it was Philly, Green Bay, or New England? No they're not." He went on to say, "we played Philly and beat them. And Philly was on TV all week."

Florio says the Falcons don't deserve the good graces of the national media. The Falcon's don't have any personalities? Tell that to Roddy White.

The Falcons lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the New York Giants! Not only is that an old tired line, but it is rehashing last year's news. Doesn't Mr. Florio have anything better than that?

Then Florio justifies the coverage of Philly was because they were a "train wreck." I guess good news can't be important or interesting.

None of the biased media matters, just as Gonzalez says. They will grudgingly come around when there is no other option. So time will tell.
My prediction is that Mike Smith will be Coach of the Year. He is doing all the right things.
His team is level and playing hard. No, they are not a train wreck. They are just undefeated! That hasn't happened since 1972. I guess that is not a good enough storyline.
Matt Ryan will be MVP this year, and no one but Falcons fans will know about it until the last unavoidable minute.
The Falcons have a receiving corps that can not be covered. How often does that happen?

None of these story lines are being explored by the national media.

The smug unknowing will go about their way, but it doesn't change the fact that Tony Gonzalez is right. He is great and he deserves a little more respect for making a comment that should be obvious.
