Real Madrid Transfers: 6 Players Linked to January Bernabeu Moves
Real Madrid started the new campaign this season on the back of a record-breaking La Liga title-winning season, having entered triple digits in points.
This season, however, they have been a picture of frustration; they remain eight points off the pace of their two most heated rivals: FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Due to so many ongoing injury problems and defensive struggles, the team could look to make some moves this January.
With that in mind, we take a look at six January moves that could potentially take place.
Ashley Cole
1 of 6Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for the better part of the last month.
The Guardian discussed the story in mid-October, and it has continued to grow as a possibility ever since.
David De Gea
2 of 6Manchester United keeper David De Gea has been linked with a move away form Old Trafford in recent weeks, with Real Madrid rumored as his destination.
Real Madrid continue to search for an understudy to finally begin their preparation to replace Iker Casillas, and the young Spaniard could be a great addition.
However, the United player has attempted to squash the rumor, according to ESPN.
Daniele De Rossi
3 of 6The 29-year-old is also believed to be a target for Manchester City in the coming transfer period, and Madrid could be in for a tough battle to make De Rossi a January addition.
Alen Halilovic
4 of 6According to the Mirror, Real Madrid have been eying a move for Dinamo Zagreb 16-year-old Alen Halilovic.
The youngster has been called the "Next Modric," and with the original already at the Bernabeu, why not add the understudy?
Javier Hernandez
5 of 6The link of Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez to Real Madrid in The Guardian may seem ridiculous to some, but he was believed to have been open to the same potential move back in May of this year, according to Metro.
Kasper Schmeichel
6 of 6According to Sky Sports News, Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel has reportedly been playing down any links to Real Madrid.
However, there is no doubting that the son of legendary shot-stopper Peter Schmeichel has the potential to be a major commodity if he proves to have the talent that his father did.
