Paribas Masters 2012: Schedule, Live Stream, TV Info & More

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

A handful of men's tennis' top-ranked superstars will be on display this week in Paris, site of the 2012 Paribas Masters, one of the most anticipated tournaments that compose the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series.

Aside from world No. 1 Roger Federer and No. 4-ranked Rafael Nadal, eight of the world's Top 10 male players will take the court looking to add an impressive singles title to their 2012 resume.

Here we get you set for this week's singles tournament from Paris.

How Will Roger Federer's Absence Impact Tournament?

Roger Federer, who was set to enter this year's Paribas Masters as the No. 1 seed, announced that he would skip the tournament in order to rest up for the upcoming ATP World Tour Finals in London shortly after losing to Juan Martin del Potro in the final of the Swiss Indoors.

No. 2-seeded Novak Djokovic will now be the man to beat on the hard courts of Paris. Fed's absence means that the most likely Sunday finals matchup will pit Djokovic against 2012 U.S. Open champion Andy Murray.

Djokovic last won the Paribas Masters in 2009, defeating French player Gael Monfils in three sets.

Prediction

With Roger Federer out of the picture, I'm predicting we'll see a rematch of the singles final we witnessed at the Shanghai Rolex Masters a few weeks ago, Novak Djokovic vs. Andy Murray. The two have ignited a fresh back-and-forth rivalry that was brought to life during their amazing five-set U.S. Open final in September.

No disrespect to David Ferrer or Tomas Berdych, but Djokovic, Murray and Juan Martin del Potro are the only men in this tournament who have won a Grand Slam. I don't expect to see del Potro's best tennis however, considering he's coming off a grueling title run at the Swiss Indoors last week.

So, back to the two favorites.

Murray's win over Djokovic in Flushing Meadows provided a huge lift to his confidence without question, but after his failure against the Serbian star in China, I have to give Djokovic the edge in a potential Paris final. I'll take Novak Djokovic in a three-set thriller.
