Many players want to be noticed as a great golfer. Dustin Johnson is doing a very nice job at this, to start the 2009 PGA season. Let's look at what this young player is doing to establish himself on the PGA tour this season.
Dustin Johnson turned pro in 2007. In his player stats against the rest of the PGA, he is above average in almost every category.
His scoring average is 69.45. His average drive is 300.5 yards. His only below average category is his accuracy on drives, 54.05 percent.
Greens in regulation are 71.21 percent. Scrambling is at 66.67 percent. Putts per round is a fantastic 28.64 percent.
In 2007 Dustin played one event. In 2008 Dustin played 30 events making the cut 17 times and earnings of $1,789,895 in his first full season.
His scoring average was 71.45.
Now in 2009,after seven events played, and six cuts made, his scoring average is 69.45. He won in Pebble Beach, has two top 10's, and four top 25's. His earnings are already at $1,527,191 dollars.
He is -8 after two rounds at Doral. He is only five shots behind the No. 2 player in the world, Phil Mickelson, and five shots clear of Tiger Woods, the best player on the planet earth.
This is the future of PGA golf. Only one of many fine young players currently on tour. Young, strong, and American made—South Carolina can be proud of this fine young player.
I know we will be seeing a lot of this fine player for years to come. Already Dustin Johnson is number 38 in the entire world.
Tiger, Phil, and Sergio better start practicing. There are plenty of players like Dustin Johnson.
Good luck to all at Doral on Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend.
