An Offseason Plan for the Oakland Raiders, But Will It Work?
March 13, 2009Ok, this is my first article but I wanted to throw out a plan that may work for the Raiders.
First, there's free agency.
Bring in:
QB - Jeff Garcia, perfect mentor for Russell
LB - Derrick Brooks, good back-up who gives us a vet on defence
CB - Dre' Bly, still a capable CB that would give us depth
DT - Tank Johnson, would play well at NT and be a upgrade
FS - Will Demps, could fight with Eugene, or maybe Huff for starting FS
WR - Torry Holt, just got released and would be a great veteran presence
Now the draft:
Everyone says we won't trade down, but this offseason gives me hope. So. we trade the No. 7 pick to the Eagles for there Nos. 21 and 28.
Draft Order
Round 1
No. 21 - Alex Mack
No. 28 - Max Unger
Round 2
Clay Mathews, OLB
Round 3
Terrance Taylor, DT
Round 4
Fenuki Tupou, RG/OT
Round 6
Zach Porter, DE
Round 7
Stephen Hodge, SS
Then we go in to '09 with a depth chart like this:
Offense
QB - J. Russell, J Garcia, A Walter
WR 1 - J.L. Higgins, J. Walker, J. Holland
WR 2 - C. Schilens, A Sheilds(slot?), T. Holt
RB - D. McFadden, M. Bush, J. Fargas, L. Rankin
FB - O. O'Neal, L. Lawton
TE - Z Miller, T Steward
LT - M. Henderson, E Pears
LG - R. Gallery, Chris Morris
C - Alex Mack
RG - Fenuki Tupou, C. Carlisle
RT - Max Unger, P. McQuistan
Defense
LDE - J. Richardson, G. Gunheim, Z. Porter
RDE - D. Burgess, T. Scott
UT - T. Kelly, G. Warren
NT - T. Johnson, T. Taylor
SLB - C. Mathews, R. Brown, J. Alston
MLB - Kirk Morrison, I. Ekejiuba
WLB - Thomas Howard, Darrick Brooks
SS - T. Branch, S. Hodge
FS - W. Demps, M. Huff
LCB - N. Asomugha, S Rout
RCB - C. Johnson, D. Bly

It looks like a great chart.
