Steven Gerrard Is the Best Midfielder in the World According to Zinedine Zidane

The enigmatic French midfielder is considered by many as one of the greatest players to ever grace the field of play, and he still holds the title of the world's most expensive transfer.

For a long spell, the three-time World Player of the Year considered his fellow French international, Patrick Vieira, as being the most complete and greatest midfielder in the world, but he has since stated he now believes that title lies with Liverpool heartbeat, Steven Gerrard.

He claims that Gerrard may not get the same plaudits that are bestowed on such attacking talents as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but he believes that a player like Gerrard—who is the engine room of a team—gives others the chance to shine.

Zidane says that Gerrard has great passing and tackling abilities, and he can score goals. But, more importantly, he gives the players around him confidence and belief.
