Arsenal Are Confusing

Arsenal remind me of that girl from high school, who gives you so much joy and yet brings so much pain.

The last two games have seen them play against two completely different teams, one championship side and the other a top Italian team.

After the hiding meted out to Burnley, I, being a true fan, had so much optimism about the Roma match.

Alas, I found myself cursing at the TV set all night, wondering if this was the same team and manager I watched three days ago.

Roma did a monster of a job in restricting Arsenal, I must say, but the team can play much better than they did on Wednesday.

Arsenal's midfield was useless going forward, sitting back all night, leaving RVP and Nick Bendtner with no support. They were forced to depend on the wingers, who had shut-up shop.

Wenger's men lacked the desire to win at all costs, unlike on Sunday, felt the absence of Arshavin's creativity.

The substitutes, Eduardo and Theo, took an eternity to get into the game. I was particularly disappointed with Theo's overall performance.

His pace is lethal, he can run circles around anyone, but he was glued to the touchline for a good 50 minutes instead of taking on the tired Roma players. He enjoyed a stroke of luck with his penalty as well.

The club should have been knocked out of the cup, but thanks to former Gunner Baptista's misses, Arsenal progress to the next round.

The side need to be more arrogant, to believe in themselves, and, above all, to have Cesc back!

Madrid took a pounding, Inter were outclassed in both legs and Juventus left clueless.

Why not the same for Roma?

Winning the Champions League isn't a walk in the park, so Arsene needs to pull up his socks.

In the end I am happy to see Arsenal's name in the quarterfinals, I hope they get a good draw and kick some butt.

If not, it's okay because the season has been like this from the start.
