The Top 10 Catches at the NFL's Midseason Mark

John RozumJun 7, 2018

The NFL spoils us with a ridiculous number of big plays offensive plays, as it's such an pass-dominated league.

That in turn makes it increasingly difficult to find a distinction between the top catches. After all, the more passes tossed contributes to a greater pool of wow-factor plays.

Still, we know receivers such as A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals are going to make an applause-grabbing reception. And the more opportunities provided to the big play receivers, the better chances of the quarterback's throw not looking all that bad.

Factor in the luxury of a pass-heavy NFL and we get some straight up incredible snags. Just like the ones ranked ahead.

10. The Other Graham... Garrett Graham

1 of 10

In the midst of their dominance over the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans' tight end Garrett Graham tipped a high pass targeted his way.

It's reasonable to believe that this was on purpose, because Graham's tip allowed him that bit of extra time to adjust while gravity took over. He then made the catch and the Texans slammed Baltimore.

For the Ravens, Week 7 was just one of those days.

9. A.J. Green and Diving Are a Good Combo

2 of 10

The Cincinnati Bengals are driving here and edging closer to the goal line of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Looking to put up more points and extend their 17-7 lead, Andy Dalton lasered one to A.J. Green. The pass, however, was slightly ahead of Green's initial break off the route and was at risk to be intercepted.

Instead, Green morphed into Clark Kent and Superman-dove into making a sick catch. No, it wasn't a score, although this exemplifies Green's ability to bail out his quarterback from a poor throw.

8. Harry Douglas' Impressive Reaction

3 of 10

Down 13-7 at home versus the Oakland Raiders, the Atlanta Falcons faced a 3rd-and-2 midway through the third quarter.

Although there was still plenty of time remaining, the sooner Atlanta scored the better. So instead of punting away to Oakland, Harry Douglas broke off his route after the ball knocked a Raiders defender in the helmet.

The quick thinking of Douglas resulted in a Falcons' first down.

7. One Hand Is No Problem for Kyle Rudolph

4 of 10

Kyle Rudolph is arguably the biggest reason why the Minnesota Vikings were able to upset the San Francisco 49ers.

Up 17-13 in the fourth quarter, the Vikings had 3rd-and-goal to go and a field goal would keep it a one possession game. Fortunately for Minnesota, Christian Ponder dialed up Rudolph's number and the emerging tight end made a miraculous one-handed touchdown catch in the face of blanket coverage.

The Vikings won 24-13, and remain a solid team for the NFC playoff mix.

6. Reggie Wayne Stretches Past Charles Woodson

5 of 10

During an emotional game for the Indianapolis Colts, Reggie Wayne stepped up in the most impressive way possible.

Down 14-0 to the Green Bay Packers, rookie quarterback Andrew Luck let one rip to his No. 1 receiver. Interestingly enough, Wayne was being covered extremely well by the great Charles Woodson. Wayne managed to make a one-handed circus catch and it propelled much momentum into the Colts' favor.

And as good fortunate would have it, Indy won 30-27 in one amazing comeback.

5. Greg Little, Big Play

6 of 10

This season, Greg Little had seen more than his fair share of dropped passes. Most notably was the drop against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night that would have been a touchdown.

Nonetheless, Cleveland Browns rookie gunslinger Brandon Weeden remained confident in his receiver and Little answered the call. On third down and losing 7-0, the Browns needed a touchdown to keep in the game.

Little then proceeded to make a juggling catch while falling out of the end zone, though he did manage to land both feet in for the score.

4. Titus Young Forces Overtime

7 of 10

The pass wasn't initially intended for Titus Young. Then again, a Hail Mary is not exactly intended for anyone.

That said, Titus Young just happened to be sitting in the right spot at the right time for the Detroit Lions to force overtime. The Tennessee Titans actually were in good position here because Young wasn't in the end zone when making the quick reactionary reception.

Unfortunately for the Lions, they lost in overtime, 44-41.

3. Clue: Andre Roberts with the Football, in the Front Corner of the End Zone

8 of 10

It's 4th-and-10 with 29 seconds remaining and the Arizona Cardinals have no timeouts.

Yes, a first down is possible. Still, Kevin Kolb is basically looking for anything past the sticks to keep the Card's hope alive against the Miami Dolphins.

So you go to Larry Fitzgerald, right?

Wrong.

Fitzgerald is too obvious of a choice and Miami covers him well. Therefore, Kolb buys time in stepping up and we find Andre Roberts, with the football, in the front corner of the end zone.

Arizona would go on to win in overtime and remain perfect through its first four games.

2. Tiquan "Tip-Drill" Underwood

9 of 10

Leading the Kansas City Chiefs 21-10 in the fourth quarter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw 3rd-and-11 with plenty of time remaining.

And with Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe against a young Tampa defense without a consistent pass rush, the Buccaneers needed to keep this drive alive to negate any hope for a comeback. Josh Freeman then dropped back and put some touch on his liner to Tiquan Underwood.

The tip by Stanford Routt was higher than Underwood's fade, but the 90's hairstyle came down with the rock.

1. The Nate Washington Adjustment

10 of 10

For anyone wanting to see how a pro receiver adjusts on the fly, allow Nate Washington to demonstrate.

Here, the Titans are tied with the Lions at 27 and less than four minutes remain. The good news is that Tennessee's situation is a manageable 1st-and-15, and we all know in a game like this it could be a lot tougher.

Washington's situation once Jake Lockers passes the ball, unfortunately, is not manageable. What he does, though, is will himself to make the play which ultimately results in a touchdown. This is the definition of a receiver saving his quarterback.

If Washington doesn't make the play, odds increase in favor of a Detroit interception.
