Chris Cooley Is Back in Washington, and More NFC East News

Jun 7, 2018

After seven weeks away from the NFL and his Washington Redskins, Chris Cooley is coming home.

The veteran tight end and fan favorite has agreed to return to the Redskins in the wake of a devastating, season-ending injury suffered by Fred Davis, according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post.

Cooley doesn't have the ability to single-handedly replace Davis, otherwise he would have had an NFL job through these last two months. With that being said, this was a no-brainer when you consider how hard it was for the team and the fans to say goodbye to such a steady locker-room presence back in August.

He prophetically said last month that it would take something like this to return, according to Maske's report:

"

"The way it looks to me is if something happens here, they would love to have me," Cooley said at the time. "If Fred gets hurt or something like that, I think I'd be the guy they sign. I think that."

"

The 30-year-old is supposed to go through a physical today before signing.

On to what else is being talked about in the league's most popular division:

From Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: The Cowboys might have dodged a bullet with Phil Costa's ankle injury.

From Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News: Ditto for Sean Lee and his toe injury. Lee expects to play against the New York Giants in Week 8.

From Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger: Tom Coughlin won't discuss what appeared to be a heated exchange between he and Ahmad Bradshaw during Sunday's game.
