Saints vs. Buccaneers: Video Highlights of New Orleans' 35-28 Win Over Tampa Bay

Brian MaziqueJun 7, 2018

Drew Brees put on a show in the first half, and the defense came up with a huge goal-line stance in the third quarter to key the 35-28 win.

It was a shootout, and the New Orleans Saints proved to have the bigger guns and the better cover. They thwarted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' attempt to grab their third win of the season.

Brees threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns—in the first half. He was unconscious, finishing the game with 377 yards as the defenses tightened up a bit in the second half.

One of the biggest plays of the game came in the third quarter. Josh Freeman hit Vincent Jackson on a pass from the 5-yard line.

Jackson bobbled the ball, but caught it. He streaked—or at least he ran as fast as he could—down the sidelines. Malcolm Jenkins of the New Orleans Saints didn't give up—he chased Jackson down, stopping him inside the 5-yard line.

That proved to be a huge play, as the Saints held for four downs and sent the Bucs away with nothing. That held the score at 28-21 in the Saints' favor. The Buccaneers had a chance to win late, but Freeman couldn't punch it in the end zone on the final play of the game.

Mike Williams' illegal-touching penalty negated what would have been a touchdown to set up a potential game-tying extra point.

The Saints grabbed only their second victory of a disappointing season. Josh Freeman threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort.
