Mike Tyson Tried To Get a Job in Manny Pacquiao's Training Camp

King JMar 12, 2009

Recently, the legendary former heavyweight champion "Iron" Mike Tyson contacted two-time trainer of the year Freddie Roach about a job working in Manny Pacquiao's training camp.

Roach denied Tyson any work.

He stated: “I just got a call that he wants a job. Mike came to Manny’s last training day for the De La Hoya fight. Mike’s a good guy, he respects me a lot. I just don’t think he has the patience to be a trainer.”

Tyson happens to be a fan of Pacquiao and came to offer Manny advice during the Oscar De La Hoya fight.

Roach had already added former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer to Pacquiao's training team, and Moorer is in charge while Freddie is away for Amir Khan's fight this Saturday.

Mike Tyson had one of the most lucrative careers in the sport of boxing, making over $100 million.

One can be reminded of just how successful Tyson was in his prime by checking out the MTV Cribs with rapper 50 Cent, who now owns Tyson's grandiose former mansion.

It has been said that even "fiddy" is now regretting buying such a huge house.

Mike Tyson has had appearances as a boxing analyst and commentator for a few fights. It is obvious that Tyson has the knowledge and skills to have a career within the sport, being a former champion, and a student of the great Cus D'amato, whether it be in broadcasting or training.

Even casual and ignorant fans who know nothing of the sweet science are aware of who the former "baddest man on the planet" is.

We all miss the excitement, power, and dominance of a true heavyweight champion shaking up the world.

The public is waiting for the next Tyson to show up and restore the heavyweight division to its former glory. Unfortunately, we have been waiting for quite some time.

Hopefully Tyson can land a training gig and start making a name for himself as a coach.

What better way to motivate yourself as a fighter than to have the "baddest man on the planet" in your corner, yelling at you to get back out there and go knock that guy out!
