McGladrey Classic 2012: Day 2 Leaderboard Analysis, Highlights and More

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

After two days of golf at the 2012 McGladrey Classic, Arjun Atwal of India is atop the leaderboard on the back of a seven-under Round 2.

Atwal, who has recorded just one top-10 finish in 26 PGA Tour events this year, missed the cut at his two previous tournaments at TPC Summerlin and the CordeValle Golf Club, but something got into the 39-year-old on Friday, as he soared up the leaderboard.

Other familiar names include Team USA Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III, Jim Furyk and David Toms.

Love, who has two top-10 finishes in 19 PGA Tour events this season, shot four under 66 in Round 2 on Friday.

Furyk, who owns seven top-10 finishes in 24 PGA Tour events this year, shot a five-under for the day, still seeking his first win of the season after his memorable collapse at the U.S. Open in San Francisco.

Toms, who has four top-10 finishes on the season, moved up two places in the standings with a three-under in Round 2.

Highlights

Atwal had a nice 19-foot birdie putt on No. 4.

Love had a nice drive on No. 17, dropping his shot right next to the pin before a birdie putt. He had two birdies in his final four holes after a bogey on No. 14.

Furyk closed strong, notching a birdie in Holes 14 through 16. His 18-foot putt on No. 14 was a beauty.

Toms may have had the best putt of the day, knocking down a 48-foot putt on No. 3. He had three birdies on his first five holes on Friday.
