Patriots vs. New York Jets: Betting Odds, Preview, Matchup and Pick

OddsShark.comJun 7, 2018

The huge point spread in the Jets vs. Patriots game is scaring off some betters and forcing sharp ones to look at some money-making trends related to the over/under line.

The New England Patriots come off a crippling loss in Seattle last Sunday for a key divisional battle against New York. The media hype is that Tom Brady will tee off on the Jets, but they lay 10.5 points at most shops tracked by OddsShark.com.

The total, however, has prevailed the past five times these teams have met. The over is 13-1 the past 14 games the Pats have played within the AFC East, according to football analyst Jack Randall.

New England’s woes against the NFC West this season continued last Sunday as the Seattle Seahawks pulled off the 24-23 upset with a late touchdown pass. It marked the second time that the Patriots were held under 30 points and upset outright with the other occurrence coming when Arizona upset New England 20-18 back in Week 2.

New England is now 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS, and all three of its losses have come by two points or less.

The New York Jets enjoyed a rare day of offensive success with a convincing 35-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The much-maligned Mark Sanchez only had to throw 18 passes as Shonn Greene had a career day rushing for 161 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries.

Reports out of New York this week indicate that backup quarterback Tim Tebow may see some playing time at running back this week to keep New England’s defense on its toes.

New England is 15-5 SU and 13-7 ATS in its last 20 games against the Jets. New England has scored 30 points or more in three of the last four meetings between these two teams including both games last season.

With Darrelle Revis out and the Patriots fired up coming off of a loss, should we expect anything different this week?

Last week, New York was facing one of the league’s worst rushing defenses. This week, the Jets face one of the league’s best rushing defenses as New England has allowed just 82.6 rushing yards per game.

Mark Sanchez hasn’t looked good since Week 1, and on the road against New England is a tough place to find your game. This one has the makings of a Patriots blowout.

PICK: New England -10.5 and OVER 47.5 (courtesy of PickShark.com)
