MLB Playoff Bracket 2012: Most Intriguing Potential World Series Matchups
There's nothing like watching two masters of their crafts going at it 60 feet, six inches away from each other.
We've seen several batters light it up during the playoffs this season, while marveling at some pitchers who can single-handedly silence an imposing offense.
With four teams remaining in the playoff picture, it's hard to contain your excitement looking ahead to the 2012 World Series.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
That's why I'm already thinking about what would be some scintillating matchups in baseball's biggest showcase.
Here's a look at some one-on-one battles I'd love to see.
Carlos Beltran vs. Justin Verlander
Entering Wednesday's game against the Giants, Carlos Beltran had gone 12-for-29 with three home runs, six RBI, seven runs and one stolen base in the playoffs.
Who better to face Tigers ace Justin Verlander than one of the hottest hitters in the postseason?
Beltran is 1-for-7 lifetime against Verlander with two strikeouts.
Miguel Cabrera vs. Matt Cain
Miguel Cabrera has gone 9-for-31 with three RBI and three runs in the postseason, including driving in a pivotal run against the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALCS.
The American League's Triple Crown winner would be a nice matchup for Giants ace Matt Cain.
Cabrera is 1-for-6 lifetime against Cain with two strikeouts, but his one hit was a home run.
Buster Posey vs. Justin Verlander
Buster Posey may not be hitting particularly well in the playoffs, but it's hard not to salivate thinking of the National League batting champion going up against Verlander.
Posey has never faced Verlander in his career and it would surely be a test for both competitors.
Pablo Sandoval vs. C.C. Sabathia
Pablo Sandoval is 8-for-29 with a home run, three RBI and two runs this postseason and he hit .299 against lefties during the regular season.
C.C. Sabathia has been dominant this postseason, allowing three runs in 17.2 innings while notching 16 strikeouts in the process. The Yankees have won both games he's pitched.
It's a bit of a long shot for the Yankees to make it to the World Series, but if they pull off a miraculous comeback, this would be a nice matchup.
Raul Ibanez vs. Chris Carpenter
C'mon, you want to see two oldies but goodies battling it out, don't you?
Raul Ibanez, at 40 years of age, has been a miracle-worker for the Yankees this postseason ever since blasting two home runs to almost single-handedly beat the Baltimore Orioles in Game 3 of the ALDS. He's 7-for-20 with three home runs, five RBI and three runs.
Chris Carpenter, all 37 years of him, has proven himself throughout the years. The right-hander has given up two earned runs in 9.2 innings this postseason.
