Big 12 Tournament Preview

It is time for the Big XII tournament at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. Here is what to look for. (Rankings are seeding in tournament)

First Round

No. 8 Nebraska vs. No. 9 Baylor.

No. 5 Texas vs. No. 12 Colorado

No. 7 Oklahoma State vs. No. 10 Iowa State

No. 6 Texas A&M vs. No. 11 Texas Tech

Who has to win to improve NCAA birth: Nebraska 

Most to lose with a lost: Oklahoma State

Team On Upset Alert: Oklahoma State

Winners: No surprises here. Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. Oklahoma State will probably clinch NCAA birth with win.

Quarterfinals:

No. 8 Nebraska vs. No. 1 Kansas

No. 5 Texas vs. No. 4 Kansas State

No. 7 Oklahoma State vs. No.2 Oklahoma

No. 6 Texas A&M vs. No.3 Missouri

Who has to win to improve NCAA birth: Kansas State is in a must win to get in NCAA tournament.

Most to lose with a lost: Kansas State

Upset Alert: Missouri

Winners: I am calling only one upset here with A&M beating Missouri. I am not going to label Texas beating a upset since it is a 5/4 matchup. Kansas and Oklahoma will take their games respectively.

Semifinals

No. 5 Texas vs. No. 1 Kansas

No. 6 Texas A&M vs. No. 2 Oklahoma

Upset Alert: Oklahoma

Winners: Kansas is too much for Texas. A&M vs. Oklahoma is a good matchup though. A&M has gotten close to beating Oklahoma at College Station and Norman. I gotta give the edge to Oklahoma though, with the difference maker being Willie Warren and Taylor Griffin with key three-pointers.

Finals

No. 2 Oklahoma vs. No. 1 Kansas 

Winner: Blake Griffin did not play last time they played, when Kansas beat Oklahoma in Norman. Even with Blake Griffin, still too much Kansas.
