Why Have an NCAA Regular Season?
I love these next two weeks of basketball, with mid-major and power conference tournaments overlapping, bids being handed out and great basketball being streamed to my home television and my computer at work all at the same time, it’s wonderful.
Another thing that I love are some coaches and their comments right after the game. I’ve always been a fan of Bobby Cremins for one, dating back to his days at Georgia Tech, he was always good for a quote or two, but his latest quip has been eating at me for two days now.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
Last year, last year, last year?? I must say, Davidson has been royally rewarded for what it did LAST YEAR in the NCAA Tournament, with national television exposure and more press coverage than any team could ask for, due in large part to the exploits of its most-deserving star, Stephen Curry.
That is also why they have a tournament each year, to reward the performances of teams during the current season, not as recognition for sustained excellence, or a previous year’s performance.
This Davidson team, while boasting one of the college game’s top players, is not deserving of at-large consideration, with only one win over a team ranked in the top-100 of the RPI, and an RPI of its own far outsite the top 64.
Congrats to Curry and his great year, we can all hope that he stays around for one more year, although the physical demands of that would be just as gruelling as this year, but it is likely his year will continue in the NIT, which as a wise man once said, is not “THE” national championship, but it is “A” national championship.
Let’s see who is deserving based on this year’s performance please. Thank you coach Cremins.
