Brady Quinn Has Easier Route Sunday with Aquib Talib Suspended

Farzin VousoughianJun 7, 2018

The biggest story in the NFL on Saturday is the suspension of Aqib Talib, cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Talib will serve a four-game suspension and will miss Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn benefits from Talib's absence as he is set to start his first game since Dec. 20, 2009, coincidentally which was against the Chiefs when Quinn was playing for the Cleveland Browns.

Prior to coming in for Matt Cassel, who suffered a concussion in last week's game, Quinn had not played in a regular-season game in over two seasons. He is looking to pick up his NFL career after struggling for three seasons in Cleveland and not receiving any playing time in Denver.

With Talib now absent for Sunday's match, Quinn has one less cornerback to worry about. Even though he's only collected three interceptions in his last 17 games, Talib is still seen as a threat for most quarterbacks.

Quinn would have had a hard time going up against Talib after not starting in so long. Now that Talib is out of the equation, it will be easier for Quinn to connect with Dwayne Bowe and get into the rhythm of things with the offense.

Jon Baldwin, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, was upgraded to full participation on Friday and is listed as questionable. If Quinn has both Bowe and Baldwin, it could give Quinn what he needs with Talib not present on the other side.
