Why the UFC's President Needs a Disclaimer

Dorothy WillisMar 9, 2009

Of course, being an old and kindly grandmother of six, I hate to ruffle any feathers (ahem), but I think that Dana White and his blogs need to come with a disclaimer.

Not being a brainy megamillionaire, I am not sure how it should be worded, but there should be some sort of warning about the "President" doing as much damage to the UFC by opening his mouth as would any rival hoping to sink the organization.

Why yes, I am still unsettled by Dana trying to put a price on his fighters' alliances and friendships.

I personally think he has a vendetta of sorts towards all the members of Greg  Jackson's gym, but that is another story, too.

Right now, after reading the buzz on the Internet about Dana's fight to bring MMA to New York, in the form of his organization, of course, I think he has just sunk his own ship.

No, not with his loathsome and ill-advised use of f-bombs, but rather a new can of worms that he himself just opened at UFC 96.

Now, this important and often lauded savior of the UFC is beginning to appear more senile than Granny.

I have a keeper, but I think Dana also needs someone to police his mouth before he offers up his thoughts.

(Yes, I hear you, Granny often could use a filter too, but listen up.)

Dana offered up that the UFC only has three good referees of note who appropriately protect the welfare of the fighters in the ring.

Only three!

Oops!

And who happened to be the fighter who was injured in the ring, the incident that brought about Dana's deal-killing statement?

None other than New York fighter Pete Sell, who may have insult added to his injuries if he is now cut from the UFC's roster.

Could Dana have provoked a worse situation than this to "help" Mr. Ratner the UFC representative promoting the matter currently with the powers that be in New York where the vote stands deadlocked at 50-50?

Yes.

And if we wait a while, he probably will.
