Sparks Off the Bench Aim to Be Arsenists!

Ashish WesleyMar 19, 2008

I've hit midweek and there's no madness at all, no siree not a peep. Also, there's just a day of 'work' to negotiate before the big Easter Weekend. A big weekend which will see the big four go at it like caged animals prodded with sharp implements and taunted by some soccer playing pansy like Beckham for a week!

Before that however, our contenders to the Prem will be in action today with Chelski taking on Totscum while Man USA take on Bolton at Old Trafford and not At the Reebok as I had stated yesterday. I'm sure all of us will have one eye on the results of the game. Lets hope the Scum (yes the Scum!) and the football hating lot of Bolton (yes, I said Bolton) can do us a favour! Points dropped by the Chavs and the Manky Shite will be just what we need!

Our second string strikers have been a bit vocal over the past day. Theo Walcott, who may have earned himself a call up to play for the England in the friendly against Les Bleus in Paris next week talks about the Gunners , saying-

“We have been playing some brilliant football, but just cannot get that penetration to finish it,” “That will come. You have bad patches through the season, although it does not help at the end. Hopefully, if we keep on doing the right things, then we will get the results we want

“The finishing is the main issue at the moment, but we just have to take the positives out of games, and continue to train hard.”

Yes, that's right as crap as the finishing has been, we will have to keep go at it! We haven't come all this way to be bridesmaids again. Whether we add to the trophy cabinet or not this season, I'm sure all of us would like to see some never say die spirit and a fight to the finish from the boys!

Bendtner who has been coming on as a second half substitute has been quite good, and doesn't deserve much of the stick he gets from other Arsenal forums and bloggers. He obviously needs more time to settle in. He's a big strong lad, and more importantly is extremely confident of his abilities. Now that his tiff with Ade has been confined to the past, maybe he can bed in and score some crucial goals for us. Nicklas says-

“I need to obviously get more games,The more you play with the team as a regular starter, then the more you get to learn and know the team.If I can get a good run in the side, then I am sure you will see that I can do it.”

Fair play to him, here's hoping he can 'do it' , but looks like he will have to 'do it' coming off the bench, with RVPs return.

In other news Alex Hleb is alleged to have met Inter Milan brokers , hours before the AC Milan game at the San Siro a coupla weeks ago. While that is definitely startling news will have to see whether if it's or is just the usual shite cooked up by the press as they are wont to do.

Will wind it down for today with news that we are on the verge of offering Carlos Vela a contract till the year 2012. Carlos has been very impressive on loan at Osasuna in Spain. Arsene had this to say about the Mexican talent and where he might find himself next season-

"We scout him every week when he plays, He can apply for a passport in March and normally he will start with us next summer. He will straight away be with the first-team and after that it is up to him to get a place in the side."

“I sent him to Spain because he comes from a Mexican culture and it is easier to adapt in Europe. He has what we like here at Arsenal. He is a good passer of the ball and a finisher. He has that intelligent movement with very good technique and great pace.”
