WWE/TNA: Will Jeff Hardy Return to WWE Once His TNA Contract Expires?
On the August 28, 2009 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Jeff Hardy lost a Steel Cage match to then-World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, and as a result, Hardy was forced to leave the company. In reality, Hardy was looking to take some time off from wrestling to allow his body to heal from all the injuries he had accumulated over the years.
โThis isnโt goodbye forever, this is only goodbye for now,โ said Hardy following his valiant loss to the Straightedge Savior, insinuating heโd be back to WWE at some point. He left on good terms, so there wasnโt any reason not to think he wouldnโt be back in WWE by the time WrestleMania 26 rolled around.

Following Hardyโs departure, they continued to make reference to the Charismatic Enigma on a weekly basis. Heck, he was even awarded the 2009 Extreme Moment of the Year Slammy Award that December, which his brother Matt accepted on his behalf.
Regardless of all that, what happened next came as a true shock to many wrestling fans. On the premiere episode of TNA Impact in 2010, Jeff Hardy made a shocking appearance following the nightโs opening bout, sitting atop the Asylum structure and making his presence known.
After all WWE had done for Jeff Hardy over the years, this was how heโd repay them?
I felt betrayed that night, and Iโm nearly positive Vince McMahon felt the same way. They had just released a DVD honoring his career months prior, which instantly stopped being promoted once Hardy reappeared on TNA television that night.
Since that show was such a monumental night for TNA Wrestling, all the stars were shining during its Monday night debut, so itโs possible that he couldโve easily been making a guest star appearance and hadnโt signed a contract with them just yet. Well, it wasnโt long before he did, which officially diminished any chance of Hardy returning to WWE anytime soon.
Of course, who am I to complain? It wasnโt until he jumped ship to WWE that I became a fan of his, especially once he shockingly turned heel on this very day two years back. I respect what he stands for and the obstacles heโs overcome, so I feel as if I can relate to him and his character he currently portrays.
Not only that, but the work schedule is definitely lighter in TNA, so I canโt blame Hardy for ultimately siding with them. I canโt imagine he makes the same amount of money that he did in WWE, but itโs quite possible that he makes something near that sum with his high level of popularity.
However, a recent report stated that Jeff Hardyโs current contract with Impact Wrestling is set to expire in February or March of next year. With that being said, does that mean weโll possibly see him back in WWE as early as next year?
More than likely, Hardy will sign back with TNA given the push heโs recently received. He won the 2012 Bound For Glory Series at No Surrender and will be facing Austin Aries for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Bound For Glory, which leads many people to think that itโs only to get him to re-sign with TNA.
Letโs not forget that Hardy previously wrestled in TNA from 2003 to 2006, and by the time 2013 rolls around, that means Hardy will have once again been with the company for three years. If the money is right, I could see him returning, but not if the road schedule is as hectic as it once was.
Although he had much more success in WWE than in TNA, I think TNA fits him well and theyโve utilized him correctly since he arrived. Then again, my theory is that anybody who was a somebody in WWE should finish their career out in WWE, merely because it will give them the recognition they deserve.
Thereโs a number of fresh feuds awaiting Jeff in WWE, most notably with longtime rival WWE Champion CM Punk. However, itโs been speculated that heโs looking to reunite with his brother Matt on the Indy scene at some point, so maybe not seeing him in either company will be an option at that point.
Anything is bound to happen between now and then, so only time will tell where the multi-time World Champion will end up by next February. As long as heโs enjoying what heโs doing wherever he is, then Iโm perfectly content.
Please keep in mind that this is not an open opportunity to bash Jeff Hardy in the comment section below, but rather what you believe the future holds for the Charismatic Enigma.ย As always, your criticism and overall feedback on my latest piece is welcomed and greatly appreciated.
