Sean Avery Back In Vogue, Gets Good Reviews On Broadway

After an off-Broadway comeback in the AHL, plus one road game against the New York Islanders, Sean Avery finally made his way back to Broadway with the New York Rangers and the rave reviews are rolling in.

The Washington Post said, "Sean Avery was warmly welcomed by Rangers fans in his first home game at Madison Square Garden in nearly a year."

The International Herald Tribune said the same thing.

The Bleacher Report said, "The Rangers' new coach John Tortorella, the return of Sean Avery, and the arrival of Nik Antropov have sparked Chris Drury, Scott Gomez and the rest of the Rangers."

NHL.com said, "Sean Avery returned to Madison Square Garden as a New York Ranger for the first time in almost a year and provided the team with exactly what it was hoping for—a spark."

"Like Old Times, Avery Sparks Rangers and Garden Crowd,"ran the headline in the New York Times.

Lynn Zinser said, "It took only Sean Avery’s hop onto the ice in a Rangers jersey for Madison Square Garden fans to start pumping the old energy into Sunday's game against Boston."

"Avery provides peskiness, assist in Rangers' home win," said the headline in USA Today.

Christopher Pasatieri, writing for US Presswire said, "Only time will tell whether Avery will be a good fit in his second tour of duty here, but early signs are encouraging."

A New York Times story said, "Sean Avery returns to Madison Square Garden as a Ranger and gets a tumultuous welcome from Blueshirts fans, who chant his name during his first shift in the game."

In the New York Post, Larry Brooks wrote, "John Tortorella is behind the bench, Sean Avery is back where he belongs, Nik Antropov and Derek Morris are Blueshirts and the team is winning."
