New York Jets: Week 5 Injury Report Is a Whopper, Includes Sione Pouha

Adam WaksmanOct 5, 2012

The New York Jets injury report for Week 5 is shaping up to be a bad one, and it tells you all you need to know about the Jets' season so far. Here is how it looks as of the end of Thursday's practice:

IR: Santonio Holmes

Out:ย Darrelle Revis,ย Stephen Hill, Sione Pouha, Dustin Keller, Bart Scott, John Conner, Bryan Thomas

Limited/Questionable:ย Eric Smith,ย Aaron Berry,ย LaRon Landry

No. 1 wide receiver Holmes is already on IR, and cornerback Darrelle Revis is effectively out for the season. The big news now is that nose tackle Sione Pouha's back is still acting up, and he had to miss practice.

The Jets' second and third receiving optionsโ€”tight end Dustin Keller and wide receiver Stephen Hillโ€”both missed practice with lingering hamstring issues.

Finally, safety LaRon Landry is still having problems with his Achilles tendon, though he should be able to play Monday night.

It goes without saying that the Jets have been hit by injuries worse than any other team so far this year. They are down their two best defenders and three best receivers already.

The Houston Texans, on the other hand, are quite healthy. The only player of note who might miss Monday's game is backup running back Ben Tate, who is dealing with a toe injury.
