Marcus Thompson II Causing Unnecessary Panic for Golden State Warrior Fans
Contra Costa Times writer Marcus Thompson II wrote an article titled "Sources: Monta Ellis Unhappy with the Warriors. "
The article gave the reason why Ellis was not with the team on the road trip, but that his agent had stated that Monta would be back with the team on Sunday. The reason for Ellis's departure was a family issue that needed to be resolved.
The good news for the Warriors is that Ellis will be able to rest his ankle due to the fact that the Warriors next game isn't until Wednesday at the Oracle.
Now, an issue in the article that was brought up by Thompson was the fact that Ellis left without being in the team picture to attend to what was called a family matter.
So my question is if there's a family emergency or something that requires your attention as an athlete at home, is a team picture really going through your mind?
I would hope the answer is no and the fact getting the situation resolved at home is what's most important.
Apparently Ellis left on Feb. 27 and he Ellis took a lot of luggage with him. So my question to Thompson is this? Does he know what the family matter was? No. Could it possibly be that the situation at home warranted Ellis's attention for the nine days he was gone? Yes.
The article also mentions certain things that Ellis has done or not done in the huddle. He's young and he's frustrated about not being able to get back to where he was last year, where he was so explosive and was the 20 point scorer for the Warriors.
Yet, Thompson also makes it more confusing by stating that Ellis has all along stated how he appreciates his contract and wants to stay a Warrior. So does this really sound like a player wanting to leave the Warriors? The answer is no.
Thompson is part of the media. The media looks to create something out of nothing and in this case, Thompson is trying to instill unnecessary panic into Warrior fans.
Does anything from the article suggest that Ellis is unhappy with the organization? The answer is no.
