2009 Bleacher Report Denver Broncos Writers of the Year

Sayre BedingerMar 7, 2009

When I joined Bleacher Report a few months back, little did I know I would become the Community Leader and basically spokesperson for the Denver Broncos, my favorite NFL team.

While I am very excited about what I have done for the site, I am even more enthusiastic about some of the other writers that have followed in my footsteps and developed their craft here at Bleacher Report.

I stumbled upon B/R via an advertisement on Facebook, and so did the recipient this past season's Broncos Writer of the Year, Henry Gula.

Henry's Broncos coverage has been excellent.  Some may automatically assume that based on the fact that Henry is a Broncos fan, he is biased, but I'm here to tell you that it is not true.

Henry brings an objective view to every article he writes, which is one of the reasons I picked him for this award.  While he is optimistic, he is also realistic.

Throughout this process, Henry and I have become good friends and I'm glad to have him as a big part of the Broncos community.  He is quick to comment on any and every Broncos article, and has really become a favorite of the readers here at B/R.

Given his great ability to analyze and dissect the game of football, most notably the Denver Broncos, I had Henry become an administrator to our Broncos blog, BroncosBanter.com.

I would like to use this article to personally thank Henry for all of his hard work, and all of his support.  Keep it up Henry!

For the next award, I would like to introduce to you all a good friend of mine.  The recipient of this year's "Curbside Prophet" award goes to young Tanner Thoms.

Tanner's previews and predictions are virtually unmatched on this site.  He brings all around coverage of the game.  From the draft to every regular season game, Tanner knows it all.

Thoms puts out an article for any breaking news story, game preview, game recap, editorial, and is even a big time NFL Draft guru.  Tanner's predictions for Broncos games really caught my eye, and he even called some Dre' Bly interceptions earlier in the season.

Since Tanner really knows his stuff, I decided to make him an administrator of Broncos Banter as well, and he has been a great contributor there.

For this year's Woody Paige award, I present to you Mr. Chaz Mattson.

Chaz has provided excellent insight to the Broncos games, as well as the coaching fiasco earlier in the year.  He even promoted himself as an NFL coach, and made a compelling argument.

Chaz, along with myself, is the community leader of the Denver Broncos' team page.  Obviously, I'm not the only one who can see that this guy has talent.

While Chaz's articles are not as frequent as some of the other writers, what he brings to the table every time he posts is unreal.  One of my favorite articles of his is one that he discusses Drew Litton, a Denver Broncos cartoonist.

Another writer that really deserves to be recognized is Jen Preston.  While Jen is more focused on NASCAR, her Denver Broncos insight is very impressive.

Jen was always quick to post on my bulletin board after every Broncos game, and she always provided great analysis.

My favorite article by Jen is the one she wrote as a tribute to fallen Bronco Darrent Williams.  If you have the time, I'd encourage you to all check it out.

There have been many newcomers to this website in recent months, but none has made a bigger impact than editor Rich Kurtzman.

Rich has a very bright future in writing, and I'm proud to have him as a part of the Denver Broncos community.  I've really only gotten to read his thoughts and insights on the off-season, but I can't wait to see what he has in store for the regular season.

While all of the people mentioned have really made an impact in posting articles, some have made an even more profound impact on the comment boards.

There is no other Bleacher Creature who engages in more Broncos conversation in the comment boards than Rob Carlisle.

Rob became a Broncos fan in a very interesting way.  He comes from England, and says that he stumbled upon the Broncos in Madden 06 when his created player was drafted by them.

Rob has only written five articles, but the comments he leaves more than make up for that.  His knowledge of the Denver Broncos is absolutely excellent, and I'm so glad to have him be part of this community.

Other authors that deserve mention are Josh Vitale and Anthony Allen.

Again, I don't mean any disrespect for leaving anybody out.  I'm very excited about the direction of the Denver Broncos community here on B/R, and I'm so glad to be a part of it!  Keep it up Broncos fans!
