2012 College Football Week 6 Picks: Georgia over South Carolina

The statistical inputs to the thousands of college football simulations are based on rigorous analysis of each team's roster, depth charts and statistically based player rankings. Roster modifications are made in cases of injury or suspension and those players are removed from their team's game simulation for that week.

Game of the Week: Georgia at South Carolina

Alabama and LSU hog the SEC headlines, but Georgia and South Carolina deserve your full attention this week.

Mark Richt's Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the season after outlasting Tennessee in a 51-44 track meet last Saturday. Quarterback Aaron Murray leads a balanced attack that is ranked inside the top-12 in total offense. The passing game is 29th at over 285 yards per game with Murray throwing 12 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Michael Bennett is his favorite receiver, by far, as he's hauled in 24 passes for 345 yards and four scores.

Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall are a two-headed beast in the backfield and the rush attack ranks eighth in the nation at better than 250 yards on the ground per game. Gurley averages 7.9 yards per carry, with Marshall picking up 8.2 per rush. The duo has combined for 14 touchdowns in five games.

UGA's offense will be put to the test as the Gamecocks are 13th in the nation in total defense and sixth in points allowed per game. Steve Spurrier's crew, also 5-0, has only allowed 11.2 points per game through the first five.

It's been about a year since running back Marcus Lattimore blew out his knee and was forced to miss most of the 2011 season. The workhorse has carried the ball 92 times for 440 yards (4.8 yards per carry) with five touchdowns this season.

An early-season quarterback carousel spun in favor of Connor Shaw who has received the start the last two weeks over Dylan Thompson. Shaw completed 20 straight passes in the Gamecocks' win over Missouri to boost his completion percentage, which currently rests at 78.1.

We simulated the Dawgs and Gamecocks 101 times and its Georgia coming away with the SEC East win on the road 59.4 percent of the time by an average score of 24-20.
