Georges St-Pierre: The Scapegoat? You Judge for Yourself

Luke MMar 5, 2009

Firstly, let me just say that I'm not trying to throw anybody under the bus. I am simply trying to show that Georges St-Pierre and his corner-men may be taking way more criticism than they should be.

The above link shows, NSAC cut-man, Jacob "Stitch" Duran, accidentally applying a small amount of Vaseline to the shoulder of Matt Hughes in his fight against Thiago Alves in June of last year.

Jacob is known as the best cut-man in the game (NSAC Approved), and yet seemingly makes the same mistake as GSP corner-man, Phil Nurse, by rubbing Matt Hughes' shoulder after applying Vaseline to his face.

Kind of Ironic since Matt Hughes was one of the first guys to jump on the "GSP is a Greaser" bandwagon., don't you think?

The video below is another example that shows Rich Franklin in his  title fight vs Anderson Silva last year. A similar high profile fight as GSP-Penn 2, Rich's corner-man seemingly applies Vaseline to Rich's shoulder and neck, even leaving a visible gob of it on Rich's left shoulder.

And Yet, all the controversy surrounds GSP. Why? Maybe because no one had noticed these things before? Maybe because both Hughes and Franklin lost those fights? Or maybe it is because people cannot seem to fathom how Georges was able to destroy a guy who was easily top five in the world. You decide.
