College Football Predictions, Results for Every Week 5 Game

Week 5 is upon us and more great college football is coming up this weekend. 

Last weekend, college fans around the nation were treated to big games and big upsets. This week, that trend continues, as there is good football on from Thursday through late Saturday night. 

Will we see another Top 10 team fall? What teams will grab early control of their conference? What players will step forward in the Heisman race?

Here is a look at every game coming up in Week 5 and who will win.

Stanford at Washington

This is going to be a huge game for both teams, as the winner will leave this one with the inside track to challenge Oregon for the Pac-12 North crown. While the Huskies' offense is good, the Stanford rushing attack will dominate and lead the Cardinal to a big road win.

Prediction: Stanford

Final Score: Washington 17, Stanford 13

Hawaii at BYU

BYU lost last week at Boise State and gets to return home to play Hawaii. This could turn into a clash between the BYU defense and Hawaii offense, but ultimately, the Cougars' defense will win this one.

Baylor at West Virginia

West Virginia gets into conference play this week, as Baylor makes the trip to play the Mountaineers. While there will be a lot of offense in this game, the majority of it will be from West Virginia, who will cruise to a win in the second half.

Buffalo at Connecticut

Buffalo is starting to fall off this season and it is taking on a Connecticut team that, while average, holds many advantages over the Bulls. Look for Connecticut to start to pull away after halftime and win easily.

Middle Tennessee at Georgia Tech

After a tough loss at home to Miami, Georgia Tech is in no mood to lose to Middle Tennessee. The Yellow Jackets will run away with this game, unless they overlook the Blue Mountaineers because Clemson is up next on the schedule. 

Prediction: Georgia Tech

Final Score: Middle Tennessee 49, Georgia Tech 28

Indiana at Northwestern

Who would have thought that Northwestern would get off to a 5-0 start?

But that is exactly what will happen when the Wildcats, on the back of their offense, win this game.

Arkansas at Texas A&M

At 1-3, Arkansas is already facing a must win this week if it wants to salvage the season. Unfortunately for them, the Razorbacks are on the road and about to go 1-4. With a loss, John L. Smith may be on the chopping block. 

Prediction: Texas A&M

Final Score: Texas A&M 58, Arkansas 10

Stony Brook at Army

Despite the 0-3 start, Army has enough offense to win this game against Stony Brook. The Black Knights have the No. 1 overall rushing attack in the nation and will lean on that all the way to victory.

Penn State at Illinois

Both of these teams are off to slow starts, as Penn State heads into Illinois. With a close game like this, it may come down to the defenses making some critical stops. The Nittany Lions will bring the better defense and leave with a win.

Missouri at UCF

Missouri has been roughed up a bit in conference play, but UCF is not an SEC team. Look for the Tigers to get their offense and defense back on track with a nice road win over UCF.

Minnesota at Iowa.

This game is full of surprises. Minnesota has started the year 4-0 and Iowa just lost to Central Michigan. While the Gophers are off to a great start, Iowa will bounce back and make sure it doesn't lose a second straight at home.

Ball State at Kent State

Ball State has continued to look impressive and its win last week over South Florida was great. This week, the Cardinals head on the road to play Kent State, and they will succeed as the offense continues to click and leads them to another win.

NC State at Miami (Fla.)

Miami pulled off a bit of a shocker when it went to Georgia Tech and won in overtime. This week, the Hurricanes return home and take on NC State. If the Hurricanes are able to bring the same kind of offensive firepower to the table this week, they shouldn't have any issues.

Duke at Wake Forest

Duke has had a good start to the season, but this is the beginning of the end for the Blue Devils. This week, they head on the road to play Wake Forest and will struggle to keep pace as the Demon Deacons pull away in the second half.

Nevada at Texas State.

After a very impressive road win over Hawaii, Nevada appears to be hitting its stride four games into the season. This week, they go on the road, but behind another offensive explosion, the Wolf Pack win this one easily.

Colorado State at Air Force

Despite the 1-2 record, Air Force has looked good on offense, but extremely poor on defense. This week against Colorado State, the defense shouldn't be much of a factor, as the offense will be able to run away on the scoreboard.

Miami (Ohio) at Akron

Not a whole lot of households are going to have this game on when Miami hits the road to take on Akron. Both teams have struggled mightily this year, but ultimately, the edge has to go to Miami and its defense.

Tulsa at UAB

After pushing Ohio State hard, UAB returns home still winless. More bad news is that 3-1 Tulsa comes to town with a great offense and solid defense. Despite playing at home, UAB will remain winless after this game.

Marshall at Purdue

Marshall is a tale of two sides of the ball. On the offensive side, it is great, but defensively, it is awful. Look for Purdue as the more balanced team to win this game.

Tennessee at Georgia

This week marks the beginning of a brutal stretch of games for Tennessee. The Vols head on the road to play Georgia. While both offenses will produce big plays, the Bulldogs' defense will make a big stop to preserve a home win for Georgia.

Ohio State at Michigan State

Michigan State's offense has looked horrible as of late, and Ohio State hasn't looked great, either. While this is the first road game for the Buckeyes, they will have enough offense to squeeze by and beat the Spartans on the road.

Clemson at Boston College

One week after dropping a huge game to Florida State, Clemson returns to play against Boston College. While already behind the eight ball in the conference, Clemson must stay focused because another loss would end any chance of playing for the ACC title. 

Prediction: Clemson

Final Score: Clemson 45, Boston College 31 

Troy at South Alabama

Another game that will not garner a lot of attention is Troy at South Alabama. Despite the 2-2 start to the year, Troy has not looked that great.

Neither has South Alabama. Look for the Trojans' defense to make some plays and help secure a win this week.

Ohio at Massachusetts

Tyler Tettleton and Ohio continue to roll this week, as they play Massachusetts on the road. The Minutemen are just plain bad and the Bobcats' offensive attack will have this game over with by the half.

Idaho at North Carolina

North Carolina returns to play this week against a struggling Idaho team. Larry Fedora will have his team ready and the Tar Heels will win this home game easily.

Rhode Island at Bowling Green

Despite being beaten soundly last week, Bowling Green is looking to bounce back in Week 5. This week, it takes on Rhode Island, who will put up some early resistance, but this is another game that will not be that close in the end. 

Prediction: Bowling Green

Houston vs. Rice

With the loss of Case Keenum to the NFL, Houston has fallen completely off the map this season. Rice and Houston meet up this week at a neutral site, and the fall from grace continues as Rice wins this one.

Louisiana Tech at Virginia

While it wouldn't be a huge upset, Louisiana Tech is going to go on the road this week and beat Virginia. Virginia has had a rough schedule so far this year.

The Bulldogs' offense packs enough punch to earn this road victory. 

Prediction: Louisiana Tech

Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati

One of the bigger non-conference games this week is Virginia Tech against Cincinnati at FedEx Field. The Hokies have already lost a game this year, and a second would be a devastating blow. Cincinnati has only played two games so far this season, and ultimately, the Hokies will look like the more prepared team. 

Prediction: Virginia Tech

Final Score: Cincinnati 27, Virginia Tech 24  

San Jose State at Navy

Anytime that a West Coast team has to make the trip across the country and play early, it usually doesn't go well. This week, San Jose State has to do just that, and the Midshipmen will be waiting and ready to take control of this game.

Prediction: Navy

Central Michigan at Northern Illinois

Central Michigan caught Iowa sleeping last week and took the Hawkeyes out with a last-second field goal. This week, Central Michigan stays on the road, and the Huskies will be well aware of what they are capable of and won't fall victim like the Hawkeyes. 

Prediction: Northern Illinois

Final Score: Northern Illinois 55, Central Michigan 24 

Louisiana Monroe at Tulane

After all the hard work that Louisiana Monroe has put in this year, it has little to show for it. This week, they head to Tulane and based on the effort they have been giving, the Warhawks will earn a much-needed road win.

Arizona State at Cal

Both teams are in need of a win during this Pac-12 Conference game. Cal has looked shaky for much of the year, but the Sun Devils have been just as inconsistent when playing on the road. Look for the Sun Devils' offense to get it together and pull away in the fourth quarter.

Prediction: Arizona State

North Texas at Florida Atlantic

North Texas against Florida Atlantic is certainly not a must-see game, but for these two programs, it is a must-win game. Despite being on the road, North Texas will have enough talented playmakers to earn a road win.

Florida State at South Florida

Coming off of a huge win over Clemson, Florida State needs to show the maturity to avoid overlooking South Florida this week. The Seminoles are certainly the better team, but we will see if the Bulls get their full attention.

Boise State at New Mexico

The Broncos' previous matchup against BYU was not the kind of game they had hoped for. The offense struggled for most of the game, but hopefully, a game against New Mexico will allow it to get back on track and put more points up on the board.

UCLA at Colorado

Jim Mora Jr. and UCLA had their hot start come to an end when Oregon State came to town and knocked them off. This week, the Bruins take on a hapless Colorado team and should win this conference road game with ease.

Towson at LSU

After Auburn pushed LSU to the brink last week, the Tigers virtually get a week off against Towson. No surprises here, as the Tigers will roll in this game.

South Carolina at Kentucky

Another SEC team who should have little difficulty is South Carolina. Kentucky has gotten off to a rough start, and at 1-3, the Gamecocks are at risk of dropping their next two games; they take on Mississippi State next week.

TCU at SMU

The hopes were high for SMU this year, but it has come up short in the first month of the season. On the other side of the field, TCU has looked good and should have little issue winning this game as it prepares for conference play.

Texas Tech at Iowa State

So far so good for Texas Tech, as it tries to avoid the injury bug in 2012. The offense looks as sharp as ever, and the Red Raiders just have too much talent on that side of the ball for Iowa State to contain them.

UTEP at East Carolina

UTEP has had a rough start to the year, as both its offense and defense has struggled thus far. That poor start will continue when East Carolina defends its home field with a win.

FIU at Louisiana Lafayette

FIU has been dreadful early this year, especially its defense, which is one of the worst in football. Louisiana Lafayette is off to a 2-1 start, and with this game at home, the Ragin' Caguns are about to go 3-1.

Western Kentucky at Arkansas State

If not for the brutal schedule, Arkansas State might be off to a better start. Western Kentucky has already won a big game this year, but the Red Wolves have too much offense for Western Kentucky to stick around.

Toledo at Western Michigan

Toledo has been cruising along this year and heads on the road to play Western Michigan. This game may turn into a passing attack on both sides of the ball, but ultimately, the Rockets have more defensive talent and will emerge victorious. 

Prediction: Toledo

Texas at Oklahoma State

So far this year, the Texas offense has looked a lot better than people would have imagined. With David Ash under center, the Longhorns head on the road for the second straight game. Oklahoma State has the offensive power to match them and will earn the victory with a late score.

Louisville at Southern Miss

Since winning Conference USA last year, Southern Miss has been dreadful. Louisville and Teddy Bridgewater have looked good so far, and despite being on the road, the Cardinals will take the win.

Wisconsin at Nebraska

Wisconsin has looked awful in its last two wins at home. This week, the Badgers head on the road to open Big Ten play, and Nebraska and its offense is about to hand them a giant loss.

UTSA at New Mexico State

UTSA has had a good start to the year, but may start to struggle as the schedule gets more difficult. While New Mexico State is not a great team, it should be able to win this home game.

UNLV at Utah State

Utah State has been extremely impressive this year and really turned it on over the past couple of seasons. This week, it plays a bad UNLV team at home and should expect to win.

Ole Miss at Alabama

Alabama has been dominating every game it has played and there is no reason that this will be an exception. Watch the Tide cruise past Ole Miss big at home.

Oregon State at Arizona

At the start of the year, this may not have looked like a good game, but it has turned out that way. After the beat-down that Arizona suffered this past week, expect a bounce-back performance at home.

San Diego State at Fresno State

Fresno State has had a good start to the year and it will look to get even better at home this week. Both teams will put up points, but the Bulldogs will earn their third win of the year.

Oregon at Washington State

At the start of the year, this game looked like a huge trap game for the Ducks. Despite how unimpressive things look for Washington State, the Cougars' offense could explode and keep this close.

But look for the Ducks to assert themselves and win in the second half.
