The Big Shaq-Troversy Engulfs Miami Heat
Here we go again.
Shaq-troversy has come between Flash and Superman, and resentment once reserved for the 'Mamba' has now invaded South Florida.
First Stan 'the man' Van Gundy called Shaq out for his alleged flop against the 'new superman' who lost his power after receiving a dose of krypto-Nate in the dunk contest.
Shaq retaliated with calling Van Gundy a front runner, the same Shaq who bailed on Miami last year when they only had 15 winnings. Van Gundy said on ESPN that it was all in jest, but the tone of his words and body language speaks volumes.
Makes you wonder if Kobe ever had a legitimate beef against Shaq (trust me, I am not a kobe fan).
The NBA tried to make their differences right by making them co-MVP of the all-star game. You can tell how thrilled he was to be up there with Shaq, and he was very diplomatic about it.
On to South Beach, where the big Shaq-troversy barely seemed to acknowledge Wade's presence.
Now there is a rumor going around that Shaq and Wade have had a falling out. Where have you been, people? This was pretty evident when they won the championship.
If you have a clip of when commissioner Stern handed Wade the trophy you can see the thinly-veiled annoyance on Wade's face as Shaq grabbed the trophy to hand it to Wade. That was my first glimpse of the dislike between the two.
Maybe we were all wrong in vilifying Riley when he took over the coaching mantle. Maybe Van Gundy went to slick Pat and said he did not want to coach Shaq. Riley, not wanting the real reason to leak out as to why Van Gundy stepped down, agreed to take over and gave him a front-office job.
One day we will know why Flash and Superman’s relationship have become as frosty as a hug from Mr. Freeze.
