PGA Tour Championshp Leaderboard 2012: Biggest Risers on Day 3 of Tournament

Rob GoldbergSep 22, 2012

With a big payout of the FedEx Cup on the line, golfers are giving it their all in the third round of the Tour Championship.

The first two rounds at East Lake have set the table for a good finish, but the weekend is where champions are made.

Although Jim Furyk remains out in front, he will need to keep playing hard to stay in first place.

Ryan Moore (Start -1, Current -7)

Moore was one of the last competitors to reach this final playoff round. He entered the Tour Championship ranked No. 28 in FedEx points, and has had mixed results in the first two rounds.

However, four straight birdies from hole seven to the 10th hole put Moore back into the hunt. He is currently tied for third place, but he can be a real contender in this tournament if he can replicate this performance on Sunday.

Brandt Snedeker (Start -2, Current -7)

Few competitors have helped themselves more in the FedEx playoffs more than Snedeker. The Tennessee native finished second at the Barclays and sixth at the Deutsche Bank Championship to help him start this tournament in fifth place in the standings.

This placement means that he can win the entire FedEx Cup with a win at East Lake, regardless of what anyone else on the leaderboard shoots.

He has played mistake-free golf on Saturday, and will need to continue this type of performance to get past Furyk.

Tiger Woods (Start -1, Current -4)

The superstar golfer might not have won a major this season, but he has had as good of a year as anyone in the field.

With a top-five finish in each of the last two tournaments, Woods enters the final playoff tournament in second place behind Rory McIlroy. He recovered from a terrible Round 2 which included five bogeys and one double bogey.

Four birdies early on Saturday have helped put Tiger in position to potentially take home the large payday from winning the FedEx Cup.
