UFC 152 Results: Live Reaction for Every Fight

The drama surrounding Jon Jones may continue long after UFC 152, but Saturday night will be all about fighting for the UFC's light heavyweight champion. Jones will attempt to defend his belt for a fourth straight time against a former UFC titleholder in Vitor Belfort.

In addition to a 205-pound title fight, UFC 152 will feature the flyweight division's first ever UFC championship bout. After picking up wins in the semifinals of a four-man tournament to determine the firs ever 125-pound champion, former top bantamweight contenders Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson will battle for a place in the history books.

An important middleweight bout between Michael Bisping and Brian Stann will also be contested on the main card, with the winner taking one step closer to a meeting with 185-pound champion Anderson Silva.

Jon Jones vs. Vitor Belfort

Jones defeated Belfort by submission at 0:55 of the fourth round.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson

Johnson defeated Benavidez by split decision (48-47, 47-48, 49-46).

Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann

Bisping defeated Stann by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Matt Hamill vs. Roger Hollett

Hamill defeated Hollett by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Cub Swanson vs. Charles Oliveira

Swanson defeated Oliveira by knockout at 2:40 of the first round.

Igor Pokrajac vs. Vinny Magalhaes

Magalhaes defeated Pokrajac by submission at 1:14 of the second round.

T.J. Grant vs. Evan Dunham

Grant defeated Dunham by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28).

Sean Pierson vs. Lance Benoist

Pierson defeated Benoist by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Jimy Hettes vs. Marcus Brimage

Brimage defeated Hettes by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Seth Baczynski vs. Simeon Thoresen

Baczynski defeated Thoreson by knockout at 4:10 of the first round.

Mitch Gagnon vs. Walel Watson

Gagnon defeated Watson by submission at 1:09 of the first round.

Kyle Noke vs. Charlie Brenneman

Noke defeated Brenneman by technical knockout at 0:45 of the first round.

Round 1

As expected, Jon Jones quickly took Vitor Belfort to the ground. However, Belfort nearly shocked the world with an armbar. Jones eventually fought off the submission attempt and cut Belfort up with elbows, but Belfort earned a moral victory in the opening round.

Round 2

Jones came out patient in the second round, controlling the center of the Octagon and attacking Belfort's lead leg with side kicks. Interestingly, Belfort pulled guard in the later half of the round and looked for a triangle choke as the frame came to an end.

Round 3

A side kick to the body dropped Belfort one minute into the third round. However, the Brazilian recovered and regained his feet only to pull guard for a second time in the fight. Belfort wasn't able to mount any offense with his guard, though, and he ate a number of elbows as the round finished.

Round 4

After Jones blocked head kick, Belfort rushed forward early in the fourth round. However, as soon as he tied up with Jones, Belfort tried to pull guard once again. However, Jones saw it coming this time and quickly took side control. Jones trapped Belfort in a mounted crucifix and locked up an Americana to remain light heavyweight champion.

Jones defeated Belfort by submission at 0:55 of the fourth round.

Round 1

Joseph Benavidez is no sloth, but he was having some serious trouble dealing with the speedy footwork of Demetrious Johnson. "Mighty Mouse" found success in landing his straight right and finished the round on top after easily defending a kneebar attempt.

Round 2

Following a disappointing first round, Benavidez made some solid adjustments for the second frame. Benavidez did a nice job of countering with his overhand right and also landed a good series of knees to the body of Johnson when he was able to clinch against the fence.

Round 3

The action slowed a bit in the third round, which prompted some booing from the crowd. However, Johnson was able to land a counter right hook that opened a small cut near the left eye of Benavidez. Aside from that damage caused, the fighters landed fairly evenly.

Round 4

In the most significant blow of the fight, Benavidez dropped Johnson with a right hand. Benavidez pounced and nearly locked up a guillotine from full-mount, but Johnson recovered and regained his feet. Johnson scored three takedowns before the end of the round, but it's hard to say that would have made up for being knocked down and mounted.

Round 5

Johnson scored a big takedown in the opening minute of the final round. With the rest of the round being very closely contested and somewhat uneventful, that takedown may have been the deciding point-scoring event of the round.

Johnson defeated Benavidez by split decision (48-47, 47-48, 49-46).

Round 1

Looking to land his right hand, Brian Stann pressed forward against Michael Bisping immediately. Stann scored with some intermittent leg kicks, but Bisping answered regularly with a stiff jab. After defending a single-leg takedown attempt, Stann blasted Bisping with a right hand that wobbled the Englishman.

B/R scored the round 10-9 Stann.

Round 2

After being rocked toward the end of the first round, Bisping quickly took Stann down and landed in side control at the start of the second frame. Stann swept Bisping and landed on top, but the British middleweight was able to escape and scored another takedown in the final minute of the round to finish on top.

Round 3

Bisping scored an early takedown, but he was only able to hold Stann down briefly. On his feet, Bisping was able to avoid Stann's power and secured another takedown near the fight's end that probably sealed his win and put him a step closer to his first UFC title fight.

Bisping defeated Stann by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Round 1

Roger Hollett was hunting for a one-punch knockout as Matt Hamill controlled the center of the Octagon. However, Hamill utilized a precision jab before taking the fight to the ground and battering Hollett with punches. Hamill came very close to finishing the fight with the number of strikes he landed on the ground.

Round 2

Both fighters slowed their pace significantly in the second round, but Hamill continued to be the better fight. "The Hammer" scored two takedowns in a round that displayed very little action.

Round 3

Hamill's wrestling continued to be the deciding factor in the third round, as he picked up a win in his return from a short retirement by using methodical ground-and-pound to pick up a decision win.

Hamill defeated Hollett by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Round 1

After being taken down early, Cub Swanson regained his feet quickly and began landing heavy punches to the body of Charles Oliveira. Oliveira dropped his hands, which allowed Swanson to come over the top with a right hand that put the Brazilian away early. 

Swanson defeated Oliveira by knockout at 2:40 of the first round.

Round 1

In his return to the UFC, jiu-jitsu ace Vinny Magalhaes got the early takedown he wanted. However, Igor Pokrajac expertly defended an armbar attempt and reversed positions. Pokrajac allowed Magalhaes to stand and landed some hard shots along the fence as the round came to an end.

Round 2

Pokrajac went for an ill-advised takedown after tying up with Magalhaes early in the round. Magalhaes immediately attacked with a triangle choke attempt and switched to an armbar to score a submission victory. 

Magalhaes defeated Pokrajac by submission at 1:14 of the second round.

Round 1

The high-level grapplers traded some heavy leather on their feet throughout the first frame, with T.J. Grant controlling the center of the cage and opening up a small cut on Evan Dunham's face. However, Dunham scored an important takedown late in the round and landed a few punches from the top position that may have stole him the round on the scorecards. 

B/R scored the round 10-9 Dunham.

Round 2

Dunham and Grant continued to brawl on their feet in the second frame. Grant landed the more damaging blows, opening a nasty cut on the forehead of Dunham. However, Dunham answered with his fair share of strikes from start to finish of the round.

Again, Dunham score a takedown in the later stages of the round that may have helped him on  the scorecards if the judges weren't already swayed enough by the blood running down his forehead.

B/R scored the round 10-9 Dunham.

Round 3

After two very close rounds, Dunham decided to press forward more in the third frame. He landed often and scored another takedown in the final minute of the fight that may have sealed his victory in a competitive and highly entertaining matchup.

Grant defeated Dunham by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28).

Round 1

At the fight's start, Lance Benoist appeared the more technical striker, landing a number of solid leg kicks. Sean Pierson quickly altered the momentum of the fight by sitting Benoist down with left hand, though.

Following that punch, Pierson was able to control Benoist along the cage and on the ground for a good portion of the opening round.

Round 2

After a strong showing in the first round, Pierson appeared much more confident in his hands to start the second frame. While it was a more closely contested round than the first stanza, the second round still appeared to belong to Pierson.

Pierson seemed to land more frequently, and it didn't hurt to have the Canadian fans screaming his name into the judges' ears.

Round 3

Benoist continued to strike from outside his range in the third round, which allowed Pierson to counter well with his right hook multiple times. Pierson appeared on his way to a second straight UFC win heading into the final minute of the fight.

Then, Benoist landed out of nowhere and put Pierson on roller-skates. Pierson appeared completely out of it, but he found a way to hang on and survive to earn a narrow decision victory.

Pierson defeated Benoist by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Round 1

Knowing Jimy Hettes would be looking to take the fight to the ground, Marcus Brimage came out swinging on his feet. Scoring frequently with his straight left, Brimage knocked Hettes down twice in the opening frame.

However, Brimage appeared to fade later in the round. Hettes was still unable to score a takedown, but Brimage's slowed pace allowed the grappler to recover and survive to see the second stanza.

Round 2

Hettes scored an early takedown, Brimage escaped as Hettes tried to take his back. Though, not long after, Hettes scored with a flying knee and followed up with trip takedown that allowed him to work from the top position for a good portion of the round.

Round 3

Despite his lull in the second round, Brimage was able to regain his composure in the third. Though Hettes controlled the center of the Octagon and pressed forward, Brimage continually landed his looping left hand and seemed to take a clear edge on the scorecards.

Brimage defeated Hettes by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Round 1

Simeon Thoreson started off strong at UFC 152, landing straight punches with frequency. However, Seth Baczynski was able to slip a punch and land a brutal hook that left his opponent face down and unconscious. 

Baczynski has won six straight fights since being released from the UFC after a June 2010 loss to Brad Tavares.

Baczynski defeated Thoreson by knockout at 4:10 of the first round.

Round 1

In the opening exchanges, Walel Watson was utilizing a smart game plan of staying on the outside and landing kicks. However, when Watson leaped in with a superman punch, Mitch Gagnon countered with a left hand that resulted in a knockdown.

In front of his compatriots, the Canadian quickly took Watson's back and locked up a rear-naked choke to secure his first UFC win.

Gagnon defeated Watson by submission at of the first round.

Round 1

Kyle Noke did an excellent job of landing strikes from a distance early. After getting blasted with a stiff jab, Charlie Brenneman looked to press forward and got caught with a right cross. Brenneman dropped to the canvas and was hit with more punches before referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in and called a stop to the fight.

Brenneman appeared upset with the stoppage, as he was trying to grapple with Noke as Miragliotta stepped in. However, the Australian was definitely getting the better of the American in the opening minute and probably would have continued to do so with Brenneman hurt badly. 

Noke defeated Brenneman by technical knockout at 0:45 of the first round.
