Iverson Needs a New Role on the "New" Pistons

Okay, everyone. I know there has been a lot of commentary on how well Detroit has been doing without Allen Iverson. I wanted to put in my two cents about how Michael Curry should integrate A.I. into the "new look" (read: successful) Pistons.

So, here it is:

Michael Curry should give Iverson 20, 25 minutes, max.

Yeah, he's a Hall Of Famer, with a capital H, O, and F. But, really, just look at the numbers: 6-0 without A.I., 24-29 with. No one can argue that the Pistons have played their best basketball these last few games without him. I'm sure some will try, but...

The Pistons have what, 23 games left? Not a lot of time.

They're the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Not a bad place to be, with the Magic sitting in third right now. That's probably the best place for the Pistons, given their ownage of the Magic over the last few years.

But standings change. And, although a matchup with the Magic sends chills of excitement down my spine, the Hawks wouldn't be a bad opponent for us either. And, obviously, homecourt advantage would be even better.

For this to happen, though, the Pistons are going to have to play well, as they have in the last few games. Without A.I., I could see the Pistons getting into the second round.

With AI in a much-reduced role, taking up just a little more time than Will Bynum, I am confident that they can advance.

And who knows? Could there be an upset series to make it seven consecutive Eastern Conference Finals? A fan can hope, right?

But there is little room for error. Curry can't keep trying to make different lineups work. He has to go with what's proven.

So, what do you guys think? How should Allen Iverson be brought back in? Will he accept Will Bynum's spot if it's given to him?
